The Commons Biere Royale Sour Ale with Black Currants 5.5% The color is maroon with a light pink foam, it kind of made me think of Orine juice. The aroma is huge jammy black currants. Quite full bodied but finish very dry with a raspy carbonic bite. Nice acidity and a much softer take on black currant in the flavor than the punch it gives in the nose. Tasty.

At the source: purplish with whitish head. Aroma is funky currants. Taste is delicate and tart and even a bit creamy. Nice fruity aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Deep red, not much head. Nose is black currant, mostly. Tart, bit thin, lots of currant, but if you’re looking for a payoff more than that you’ll be disappointed.

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a hazy pinkish with small frothy white head. The aroma is strong currant and berries. Light berry, sour, oak, very nice.

Capped 750 from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy rose with a slight, pinkish head. Mild aroma of fruit with a hint of sour. Med body or so. It’s lightly sour, a little dark berry, and there might be a very light touch of barnyard/lactic. Seems so. Lightly tart. Rather mouth smacking. Finishes pretty much like the flavor at the start. Nice.

Sample at the DBLDP on 08/31/2014. Hazy dark red color with pink around the edges, and a medium pinkish-white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of florals, berries and yeast. Light-bodied with a blackcurrant character and notes of yeast and herbal wheat. The finish is fruity with a berry aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle - Sour and black currants with some earthy notes. Pinky orange with a thin head. Tart acidic berries and a long vinnegar finish. My teeth are squeaking.

Tasting at Matt’s
Cloudy reddish color, with a small foam crown. The aroma is interesting, the black currant is evident, nice sourness too, moldy cellar. Dry mouthfeel, very tart, fruity (raspberry), lemony. The final is a bit too simple.
Nice.
