Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Beige head with excellent retention recedes leaving sheet lacing. Toasty malt aromas. Crisp and pleasantly astringent with spicy hops and caramel malt. Lasting slightly smoked finish.

Draught at the New York Wine and Culinary Center. Dark brown with a winey red glow. Big nose of toffee, coffee, chocolate; rich and fragrant, with a big of dried fruits. Chocolate, coffee flavor, bitter and well roasted with rather light body and a big, bitter finish. Very pleasant.

When this beer poured, I was sure that it was a brown ale, because the tan head and the dark brown body made it seem that way. The aroma was not exquisite... mostly just roasted malts and sugars, but not in a really appetizing way. The beer’s texture was a little bit on the creamy side, but was also in a strange way kind of watery. Caramel and roasted malt sweetness were the primary flavors in the beer. Don’t really know if I liked this or not, but hell it was interesting.

Tasty brew this Ubu. Drank it a bit during college in Central NY. Dark red color. Nice, light head. Tasted notes of chocolate and caramel with a nice hops balance. Ubu!

12oz bottle. Red-black color, opaque. Deep malty aroma with a hint of brandy. Sweet malty taste, balanced by some minimal hops and a warming finish. Some chocolate and coffee tones, but a little more spicy and pungent than typical. Very drinkable and smooth, a pretty good beer.

This beer came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark red-brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was a lovely mix of sweet malts, chocolate and ripe fruit. The flavor was sweet and malty with a light roasty undertone and notes of chocolate brownies and ripe fruits. The mouthfeel was fairly thick and smooth. Very nice!

Pour is a dark red with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice chocolate malt with a big helping of roasted nuts. Flavor is a nice mix of chocolate and caramel malts with a bit of a nutty aftertaste. I would recomend this beer as it is pleasing to all the sences and looks good as well.
