16 ounce can. Light gold pour. Brief bubbly white head. Fruity citrus malt nose has yeasty notes. Bittersweet wheat malt flavor. Notes of apricot and lemon peel. Typical Belgian-style blonde ale flavor. Average at best.

Cask, at The Ginger Man, NYC. With lemon verbena and black peppercorn. An unclear one, golden in color and with a small, off-white head leaving lacing. Oranges and some sourish notes in the aroma, with pale malts in the back. Not much trace of the pepper in the aroma, but it has a nice peppery touch in the flavor. Oranges, citrusy soourness notes and pale malts in the flavor. Decent bitterness too. Medium body, rather soft on the carbonation. An interesting experiment, but the base beer is too ordinary and the additions too gentle I think. 150624

Cask with lemon verbena & black peppercorns @ The Ginger Man, New York, NY
Pours hazy golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, yeast and citrus. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long caramel, yeasty and slightly malty finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Bottle from Signal Variety, Plaistow NH. Aroma is caramel/fruity malt and yeasty dough. Appearance is cloudy (tons of large floaties) dark amber with 1 finger width foamy head with poor retention and no lacing... I understand sediment kind of goes hand-in-hand with Belgian style beers but this wasn’t just confined to the bottom 1/4 of the bottle. Taste is caramel/fruity sugary sweetness and some other flavor--is this the Maca root?--it tastes a lot like their pale ale. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, slick texture and soft carbonation. Finish is sweet and abrupt. It has a cool label and the maca root/Andean origin is unique. But, the appearance is off-putting and the other qualities seem a little off. Was a discounted purchase so perhaps age has something to do with it.

Very hazy golden blonde coloured body with no head at all and only a touch of yellow tint coming through. Aroma of alcohol, grain, starch and bitterness - not too pleasant. Light-bodied; Sharp alcohol flavour with grain and unfinished sugars, all with a touch of bitterness from the malt. Aftertaste shows the deep pungent malt, alcohol with a lot of bitterness and metallic notes and a funky bite at the end showing some banana and plantain notes. Overall, a beer with a flavour that I pretty much expected (from their other beers) with nothing too nice and only a funky taste finishing it off. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 08-November-2014 for US$2,00 sampled at home in Washington on 26-November-2014.

12oz bottle pours a hazy gold with some sudsy white head. Nose is interesting, Belgiany esters, stone fruit, a little candy, a little tea like. Flavor is also a bit odd, some Dubbel notes, clove and raisin mostly, then a bit more traditional candy sweetness, followed by some earthy kombucha notes, some peach too, even a little plum. Creamy, tannic finish.

"2 oz" draft bottle pour at SAVOR’s Friday night session. Poured a slightly cloudy golden yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was light malts, spice notes - a touch fruit. Flavor was light fruits, balanced malt and hops.

Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Hazy orange with a small white head. Sweet aroma, slightly oxidized, with fruit esters, honey, some malt, yeast and a bit of spiciness. Sweetish and spicy flavor with yeast, honey, sugar and some fruitiness. Finish is slightly drier and alcoholic with oxidation notes. Medium-bodied, somewhat fizzy mouthfeel. Not great, but probably not fresh enough.
