Bottle (2013 vintage) shared at Vál at the annual hop harvest. Pours copper with off-white head. Nose is sour and is packed with funky brett, some acetic acid too, a hint of wood nd some stonefruits. Taste is so, soo sour, kinda over the zop for me. There are hints of funk here as well, even some woody notes, but the acetic acid just overwhelming really. Closes with long sour finish, has light to medium body and average to high carbonation. Expected more dimensions really.

750ml corked and caged bottle from the lcbo. Pours a very dark red, almost brown, with a medium beige head. Aroma is bold cherries, balsamic vinegar loads of oak and sour vinous cherry notes. Soft carb, vinous mouth feel, full and very sour. Huge oak notes, lots of red wine notes, very tart, vinegar, cherries..... One of the best in the style I've ever had. Not for the faint of heart. A true acquired taste.

Sang Rouge 2013 bottle. Pours deep mahogany into a tulip. White head does quickly hugs rim. Dark cherry and oak aromas. Tart with cherry and pit fruit upfront turning quickly lactic in the dry, lasting finish. Aged nicely.

Draught (as Sang Rouge 2015). Reddish black (coca-cola) coloured with a small off-white head. Aroma is wooden, some red wine, mild tartness as well as some red berries and mild chocolaty and nutty elements too. Flavour is tart wood, some berries, chocolate, mild red wine like notes with a bit of raspberies too. Nicely dry palate, and the sourness in the aftertaste is just lovely.

0.355 l can as 'Cascade Sang Rouge', canned in September 2020, via IP trade with fonefan, massive thanks Jan! Clear, dark ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly sourish, vinous-fruity aroma of caramel, red berries, balsamic vinegar, oak, sour cherry, redcurrant, red wine and a touch of chocolate. A little sweet, slightly malty, quite sour, rather vinous-fruity taste of caramel, balsamic vinegar, red wine, oak, sour cherry, some chocolate and redcurrant, followed by a medium long, fairly tart, gently woody-dry finish. Medium body, quite astringent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Lovely sour ale, very close to a flemish one, not too sour, nicely fruity and vinous.

Sang Rouge can, from Glasbanken. Dark reddish brown with beige head. Tart, oaky and berry forward. Some earthy notes, almost toasted. Complex, quite punchy red berries. Quite enjoyable.

Mycket gott.
