4 oz pour on draft at Bluejacket. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of roast, toast. Tastes of roast, light smoke, grains. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

Tap. Pours clear black, large creamy tan head, slow to dissipate, nice lacing. Aroma is smoky, roasty, a bit of cardboard. Flavor is light sweet, quite bitter, bacon, burned malts, coffee. Lightish body, soft mouthfeel.

Light German hops, surprised to actually taste the saphir in this. Light dark chocolate. A little thin but very well-balanced and good considering I don’t usually love the style so much. Light bitter finish. Tap at brewpub.

On tap at the brewery on opening night. Pours an inky black with some bright, white head. Aroma is spot on, mild chocolate, bread crust, light toast, coffee, earthy, some tobacco leaf. Flavor is also really nice, malt, mild chocolate, cracker, a little toasted sesame, coffee grounds. Clean, silky finish. Super drinkable. Loved this.

Draft at Snallygaster 2013. Poured a dark brown color, with a medium-dark brown head. Aroma was notes of very roasted malts. Flavor had a touch of chocolate character to it, roasted malts. Pretty clean, enjoyable and easy to drink. Tasty.

Draft at Snallygaster. very dark brown color, almost black, light brown head. Aroma is very roasty coffee grounds, cocoa powder. Taste is smooth, roasty, bitter, almost a black IPA. Very tasty.
