12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 7/24/2012. Pours lightly hazy and cloudy orange copper color with a nice 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of apricot, pear, apple, caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, light nuttiness, light grass, and herbal hops. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of apricot, pear, apple, caramel, toast, toffee, nuttiness, brown bread, grass, light roasted grain, and herbal hop spiciness. Lingering notes of light fruits, caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, light roasted grain, grass, and herbal on the finish for a bit. Nice flavor balance and robustness; with almost zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice Oktoberfest style. Very nice flavor robustness and balance; and very smooth to drink. I enjoyed this quite a bit, well done.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy dark caramel-brown color with a medium sized creamy orange-white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy caramel, honey, bread, toffee and nut. The flavor was sweet and tangy toasted caramel, toffee, nut, bread and faint dark fruits. Medium length sweet and tangy caramel and toffee finish. Medium body. Solid.

Its october in feb! dated 7/13/2010 Thicker brownish orange pour, seems bubbles are rising slowly in a viscous liquid. Rather mild aroma for a 6.4+ beer. Fairly lager strong on the first sips. Goes down OK, like an impressive aged lager. Perhaps has some of that rude ice lager feel? No, just a thought.

Copper with a white head. Lots of malt but balanced nicely with the earthy hops. Biscuit, light caramel, and some zesty hop flavors really make this a nice beer. Glad I picked it up.

Yeasty aroma of roasted malt and cherries. Crystal clear dark amber, thin head. Medium bodied, soapy and frothy. Bitter malt, oak finish. Leans toward a weak brown ale.

Location: Updating this rating with a 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 10/25/09

Aroma: Light aroma, mostly bready and earthy tones, with some light caramel
Appearance: Pours a nice looking reddish-caramel color with a soft white head
Flavor: Pretty standard fest-flavor, lots of yeasty malts and not a whole lots else
Palate: This is a medium bodied brew with a nice, smooth mouthfeel
Overall Impression: My view of this one didn’t change too much, but I felt I had it a little higher then it really should have been, so I lowered it just a touch. Additional note: The 2009 version has a new, orange label with 2 German beer steins on it.

Old rating:
Location: 12 oz bottle from Norms, Fall ’08

Overall Impression: This ones got a nice mouth feel and a smooth, well-balanced flavor. Highly drinkable fest beer. (7,3,7,3,13: 3.3)

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine in Richmond. Pours a clear red color with a medium head. Low retention and lacing. Slightly corny malt aroma with some caramel notes. Big grain, cereal, bread notes along with some grassiness. Medium body.

Draught at Old Dominion Brewhouse, Washington DC
Light amber color. Some malt aroma, some malt, caramel and cereals flavor, medium body, light residual sweetness, correct bitterness... very simple, it reminds me some bottled Amber from Europe, not an Oktoberfest.

Bottle. Amber color, with white head. Aroma is that of caramels. Flavor is the same, with some fruityness. Malt flavors hidden in there as well.
