Part of their mixed pack on my trip to Maine. Seems to be called "Harvest Barn Ale" now. Pours a clear brown colour with a nice creamy beige head that is everlasting and with lacing. Beautiful coffee aromas. Roasted malt with some nice bitterness and hints of yeast. A good roasted malty brew for harvest.

Reviewed from notes from some time ago (September 03, 2012). Pours a dark amber/brown and leaves the same colored body that leaves a large full two finger white head that lasts a good minute. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. No lacing is around the sides of the glass. The aroma has a great combination of brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup and a short roasty nutty aroma. The taste has all of the previously mentioned ingredients combined perfectly. On the palate, the body feels about a medium and leaves a slight stickiness, not bad, nutty aftertaste and finish. Overall, I’ll go out on a limb and say this is probably one of most drinkable browns on the market.

On tap. Dark reddish brown color topped by a brief small beige head. Big earthy toasted malt aroma has notes of burnt sugar. Flavor is more caramel maltiness with a touch of spicy hops. Notes of sulphur and brown sugar, as well.

Government shutdown beer #2, thank you Congress. Draft. Hazy amber brown color, medium tan head. Aroma of lightly toasted caramel. Taste is sweet caramel. More palatable than a conference committee.

A little bit of the maple syrup comes through on first taste, but some lingering, cloying sweetness remains. Watery mouthfeel. Light brown in color, with no head and light carbonation. To me the maple detracts from what might have been a nice brown ale..

Dark roasted malt aroma, not strong. Clear brown, medium yellow head. Tart charcoal flavor, again, weak. Bark and coffee toward the end. Not real exciting, but ok.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Malty aroma with caramel, chocolate, faint nutty notes, spices and leafy hops. The taste is faint malty notes and leafy hops, some nuts, grain and very faint chocolate. Thin bodied. Fairly average beer.

Shaker Pint draft at the Jet Rock bar and grill in Concourse B of the Philadelphia airport. Pour is clear copper amber with more or less no head. Aroma is malt, nutty with whisper of roast, and a bit of caramel sweetness. Taste is malty, pretty much straight forward lightly sweet and nutty, not much else. It is quite clean, and the finish has a nice lingering gypsum to it, which I like. Palate is medium, low carbonation, and a quick and clean finish. This is not exactly what I was expecting when I heard Harvest Ale, but what are you going to do?

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 9/21/10

Aroma: The nose is somewhat nutty, toasted malts, caramel, and a light fruitiness
Appearance: It pours a clear mahogany color with a small off-white head and light lace
Flavor: The taste is somewhat sweet, a bit of nutty/malty/roasted flavor, and a touch acidic
Palate: This one has a decent mouthfeel, though it is a drop on the watery side
Overall Impression: This beer is alright, but it isn't that exciting. There isn't anything terribly wrong with it, its just underwhelming. I have a feeling this one will end up being rather forgettable.
