First released in 2002 and sold out in two weeks. A tribute to the classic Fest styles of Germany the O'Fish uses European malts hops and yeast. A beautiful reddish color, a savory malt profile and nice hop flavor, make this Fest beer quite drinkable. OktoberFish is great with food and especially great with Lederhosen.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a small soapy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was barely present but was tart and dryish with faint fruity hops. Bland flavor with barely detectable notes of dry malts, tangy yeastiness and a touch of nut. Short dry and yeasty finish. Medium body. Blah.

12oz bottle with label stating German Style Ale printed on it pours clear gold with near white head. The aroma offers up esters and apple and a bit of cherry hard candy covered over by yeasty spices. The taste is insanely thin and somewhat on the tart side with a mix of red apples and tart green apples followed by, despite what the label states, yeasty lager like notes and muted possibly floral hops. Meh. (holy . . . there’s an oaked iced version of this!!)

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours orange amber with a slight whiteish head. Aroma is mildly grassy hop. Med body. Flavor is a little grapey/sweety caramel with some balancing herby/grassy hop. A flavor I’ve never encountered in a beer. Drinks good.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 9/23/11

Aroma: The nose is fairly light, some caramel and bready malts, and some earthy notes
Appearance: The pour is a dark orange-brown color with a small off-white head, and light lace
Flavor: The taste components are similar to the nose, lightly sweet balanced by a light bitterness
Palate: The body is fairly light (leaning toward medium), with an average-to-lively carbonation
Overall Impression: When I realized I hadn't rated this one, I was fairly surprised. I actually thought this was a decent one. It isn't a top offering, but it is fairly on style for what it is trying to be. I don't really have too many complaints here, but I didn't find much to rave about either.

Lightly fruity and malty aroma. Flavor has some light toasted malts, some caramel, some light herbal hops, too. FInish has a light hop bitterness but also decent caramel malts. A solid beer.

12 oz bottle courtesy of eaglefan538. Pour is hazed orange golden with a one inch light tan head. Audible carbonation crackling on the pour. Aroma of soft bakers cocoa and fruity maltiness. Taste is the sweet maltiness, with a bit of a sharp acidity in the middle, leading to some hay and dirt in the finish. Decent complexity. After taste is dry and lingering, perhaps a bit too lingering. Palate is medium to thin, perhaps a bit heavier than a traditional Oktoberfest, though still nicely drinkable. Overall a decent Oktoberfest. Thanks for sending this my way, Brian.

Sample at the Mill Hill Saloon in Trenton, NJ: The beer is brownish-amber with a medium thin beige head that has good retention. Thin rings of lacing. Bready malt, grain and floral hops aroma. Medium body with a mellow fruit and malt character, and grassy hops in the background. The finish is sweet at first with a light hops and spicy alcohol aftertaste. Above average overall.

Deep amber, orange color. Small white head. Mild toasted malt nose with a floral hop balance. Sweet caramel malt flavor upfront with notes of dried fruit and brown sugar. Hops come through in the finish. Smooth and flavorful, you can drink several of these in one session. Nicely done.

Bottle from MrBendo. Hazy copper-orange body, thin off-white head. Caramely sweet aroma with brown sugar, cereals, and hints of citrus. Toasty, cerealy body, sweet, with slightly tannic leafy hops providing tea-like notes. Light spiciness. This is quite good.
