16oz pint at Clyde’s in Chinatown pours a clear amber with some creamy, white head. Nose is fine, some yeast, some bread, a little root veg, some mild soap, not much else. Flavor has a rusty penny thing happening, some muddle citrus, but mostly just yeast and bread. Merciful, clean finish.

Total Wine, Chantilly 12oz ($2): Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is caramel malts and a bit of hops. Taste is mostly caramel malts. Subdued sweetness is present throughout. No off-notes. This is a simple session and seems to only want to be a simple session. For that, I can’t fault this beer.

Bottle. Amber body. Fizzy, white head. Aroma of toasted grain, vegetables with a hint of caramel. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Some biscuit taste along with canned vegetables. Hint of caramel, grain. Drinkable, but average.

Sample at Flying Saucer in Nashville. This brew is a clear orange color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes steadily. Jagged rings of lacing on the glass. Malty aroma with mild yeast in the background. Medium body with flavors of sweet caramel malt and fruit, plus a touch of hops. The finish is malty and short. Average overall.

Purchased on my trip to Nashville. Pours a hazy golden-orange colour with a creamy head that has great retention and sticky lacing. The nose is mild with malts and grains. Nice spicy hop in the taste and the malt leads into the aftertaste. A nice in-between macros and micros, getting that German malt and a bit hoppier than most swill lagers.
