Made with three varieties of hops and a generous amount of specialty malts, Rowdy offers a complex flavor and aroma that is both aggressive and fun. The addition of malted rye to the grain bill lends a peppery and distinct character to the beer which complements the bitterness and floral notes of brewhouse hop additions. Finally, this copper-hued ale receives a liberal addition of dry hops in the fermenting vessel, imparting citrus aromas and a crisp, clean finish.

Pours a clear rich brown from a can, off-white head dissipates, minimal lacing. Smells citrusy and piney, a little like cleaning solution. Flavor is a bit of an odd lemon/orange/rye mishmash, rather soapy. The rye is nice and peppery/sour, I just find the hops a little much. Good beer.

Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can poured into a glass mug. Opaque medium brown with small beige head. Aroma is strong rye, medium body, medium carbonation, and pretty good small-bubble lacing. Taste is spicy rye, some floral hops, and some citrus hops.

Can at R.F.D. Murky brown pour with small skin of head. Difficult one here, so many elements in play. Rye ale and old ale come to mind. Musty, tart aroma . Taste comes in with some funk and wood. Mildly spicy with minor rye sourness. This one’s all over the board, but good.

Can from the ’Craft Beer Corner’ at Fedex Field, Maryland. Pleasant rye beer, with earthy and spicy malts, berry fruits, leafy hops and a dryish finish. Enjoyable.

Can at Reagan International Airport. Pours a near clear deep brown with a light brown head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has lots of rye with light roasted malts and a bit of bitter pine coming through. Flavor is full of rye with some sweet dark grains, a hint of pine and some bread underlying.
