Czarne jak noc w piwnicy. Smoliste i palone wyraźnie. Aromatyczne z wielgachną pianą. Wytrawne solidnie. Nut owocowych tu próżno szukać. Kolor nieprzepuszcza światła, jakby najlepszy szwarzbier z egzotycznego kraju. Blisko mu do najlepszych Stoutów

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, a touch of licorice, some light coffee and a bit more roasted malt and earth. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt flavours with a touch of sugars, cream and a little earthiness. Aftertaste shows the simple, yet potent roasted malt taste with a little sweetness and a hint of alcohol near the end. Overall, a decent beer that shows some quality, but not great compared to other artisinal beers in New Zealand. I sampled this 33cL bottle with ridges on the lip, on my honeymoon on 22-August-2011 at the Koru Club (Air New Zealand) in Auckland International Airport.

Pours black with a light tan small head.Nose shows light roasted malt with a lot of nutty and toasty chocolate malt. Big milk chocolate hit as well as vanilla. This is great. Such a lovely creamy mix of aromas.Flavours are less complex with more of the emphasis on plain roasted malt. Still, some hints of milky chocolate (reminiscent of a hot chocolate) show. Quite sweet, with just a hint of a roasty finish.Much too much carbonation for this kind of beer!

Almost black with a decent beige head. Smells of mild roast malt and grass with some hints of berries. Tastes barely sweet with a touch of roast and plain bitterness. A good quality lowbrow beer (which is nothing to sneeze at).

(On tap Courtesy of yalnikim. Dark brown - close to black - with a creamy, beige head leaving some laces. Lightly sweet, hard roasted malt aroma. Medium in body with lightly sweet, hard roasted malt accents and a somewhat malt bitter finish. Drinkable indeed. 310108 (Bottle 33,5 cl) A beer that certainly lives up to it’s name, this really is black albeit with a reddish tint. Light brown, creamy head. Malty, lightly burned, but also with a strange tang of bon-bons or something - actually very unpleasant. I fail to believe this is intentional. Hope it’s a faulty beer. 3/2/3/1/6=1.5 100204

A dark red beer with a light brown disappearing head. The aroma is sweet and slightly smoked. The flavor starts on a thin note but then comes a good malt flavor of roasted malt - though a little flat. The carbondioxide prickles the tongue, it ends on a slight sweet and bitter note. This beer has no body. All in all it is a weird beer - it has some good traits but also some bad ones.
