12oz bottle. Smooth and easy on the palate. Roasty chocolate, slick black malt, and a steady juniper balance. Unique, rather excellent beer. A pleasure to drink. Lots of finesse, not sugary or too heavy but still full bodied. Solid offering, quite enjoyable. My favorite Porter I’ve had in ages.

26.11.2014, 0,33l bottle sampled @ BBGTC tasting:
Nice light brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, caramel, dried dark fruits, yeast, banana, roasted grain, almond cake, toast, paper. Taste is medical harsh, paper, weeds, wet grain, medicine, sugar, dark fruits. Medium bitterness, medical harsh mouthfeel. Meh!!

The Sampler, Brooklyn 11.2 ounce: Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is fruity, a bit yeasty, with minimal roast, and some hops. Taste isn’t quite in the territory of a black IPA. Certainly porter with something extra better fits this beer. The hoppiness is pretty light. The berry and fruity tastes are comparatively stronger. The roast is light. There is a light chocolate undertone. Dark bread is certainly there in greatest force.

Nydelig duft av kaffe, lakris, sjokolade og frukter. Dyp sort farge. Tykt tett brunt skum, heng langs kant. Nydellig smak av frukter, kaffe, sjokolade og en litt skarp lakrismak. Drikkes gjerne igjen.

A very dry porter with some salty notes. Very bitter, salty dark chocolate. Pours black with good head and lacing. Bitter finish. No sense of caramel. Toasty malt evident with faint hint of toastiness. Tap at Churchkey.

4oz pour at Churchkey’s Nogne O Tap Takeover. Pours a watery, deep brown with one ring of grey head. Nose is odd, licorice, herbs, mild juniper, some soap, smoke, some bread. Flavor has some bread, soap, herbs, licorice, a little bit of smoke, earthy. Soapy finish.

Nice dark brown coloured body with a muddy, hazy glow and a nice three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright caramel, toffee, nuts, malt, earth and a touch of alcohol. Medium-bodied; Assertive toasted malt with a bright hop note showing grapefruit and pine with an earthy malt bite at the end. Aftertaste shows some robust nuttiness with a lot of hops still noticeable and a touch of grain and pine. Overall, a very hop-forward porter that borders on a nut brown or a black IPA - not bad in the slightest bit, but slightly an identity crisis on the beer it’s trying to be. I sampled this 33 cL stubby bottle purchased a few minutes ago at Whole Foods in New York, New York (Bowery) on 25-April-2014 for US$2.99 sampled on the train going back to Washington on 25-April-2014.

Bottle. It’s a hazy dark brown beer with a reddish hue. A small, dense dark beige head sits on top. The aroma is quite roasted, with licorice, some dried fruits and a citrus hint. It’s very smooth and soft on the palate, full bodied and pleasantly sweetish. Perhaps a tad too much carbonation. Roasted flavor too, some licorice and a faint fruity touch. Some bitterness and a spiced hint. Dry finish. A pleasant porter/stout with a Belgian twist. 130914
