Pastry sour with pears, walnuts and maple syrup
Pear strudel is a much rarer find than the classic apple version. Yet, in our great-great-grandmother’s kitchen, you would be far more likely to catch the scent of baking pears than apples; while apples were reserved for the city burghers, pears grew in absolute abundance across the Slovenian countryside. Clef’s Hruškov Zavitek is a bold, rich, and liquid tribute to this tradition, served in a modern guise.
Na hruškov zavitek naletimo veliko redkeje kot na jabolčni, kljub temu pa bi v pra pra babičini kuhinji prej dišalo po hruškah kot jabolkih, saj je bilo hrušk na slovenskem podeželju v izobilju, medtem ko so bila jabolka namejna meščanom. Clefov Hruškov zavitek je drzen, bogat in tekoč poklon tradiciji v moderni preobleki.

Holy shit, this is the BEST sour I had until now. Incredible!!
Pours hazy, pale peach with thin white head.
Nose is cinnamon, some pears and sweet maple syrup.
Flavor is sour, pear and maple syrup towards the finish. Some cinnamon. Can't say I taste walnuts, but might be there, semi-hidden.
Medium carbonation.

Canned 500ml. -at Goblet Zagreb, shared with Hrabren. Murky yellow/orange coloured, minimal off-white head that went away fast, strong cinnamon in the nose. Pear, cinnamon, lactose, light walnut and some maple syrup with sweet finish. Could be worse.

0.5 l can shared with Ogi at the Goblet Beer Store, Zagreb. Hazy orange, small off-white head. Aroma is ripe baked pear and apple with cinnamon. Flavour is sweet pear and walnut, also a hint of cherry brandy and walnut brandy. Hint of lemon peel. Sweet, almost not too sweet. Medium body, light sourness. Quite balanced.
