Runabout Red Ale is a classic. It is brewed with three malt varieties which create the sweet malty backbone and deep amber color. The bready malt character transitions to grassy hops that glide on your palate with every sip.

Keg at the Portland branch. Pours clear, deep red-gold with a lasting, creamy off-white head. Bready malt nose with just hints of piney hops. Light to medium sweet flavor with slightly toasted bread, mild perfumey and piney bitterness, subtle orange. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Simple finish, more bready malts, mellow bitterness. Very basic but nothing wrong.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Darien. Pours a clear medium amber color with a medium sized frothy head. Decent head retention. Malty aroma... caramel and herbal notes. The taste is very malty with notes of wort, grainy notes, toffee and a mild herbal hoppiness. Medium bodied.

tap at Portland brew pub - Pour slight amber and bubbly with an off-white head that laces well. It has a mild malt aroma with a hint of caramel. The taste is sweet and toasty with ample hops bitterness to balance it. It’s light to medium bodied with lively carbonation and a mild bitter finish.

22 oz bottle bought at brew pub. Light amber, somewhat translucent. Lightly carbonated. Nice small off-white head. Nose of malt and yeast. Taste of roasted grain, and a VERY light hop finish. A nice creamy mouthfeel that makes it easy to drink. Nothing complex but a nice lighter beer to enjoy if you don’t want something heavy. I would drink again.

On tap at Sebago Portland , ME location. Pours out a cloudy reddish amber topped with a small white head. Aroma was of sweet caramel, light cherries, and some spice. Taste was more of the sweet roast malts and light fruit.
