At Oxbow we strive to keep you on your toes. Skipping from Freestyle 13 to 30 has probably turned a few heads...

We brewed Freestyle 30 on Tim’s 30th birthday. Two good friends of ours -- Sam Fitz (Beer Director at the Meridian Pint and Smoke and Barrel) and Greg Jasgur (Beer Director at Pizzeria Paradiso) -- collaborated with us on this beer. They trekked up from Washington DC in a snowstorm to hang out, brew, and help make this complex beer come to life.

Freestyle #30 is tart and malty, but dry. We find hints of black pepper, earth, leather, funk, tropical fruit, and coniferous forest. (March 2013)

Draft at Ebenezer’s Lovell, ME. Nearly clear amber color, thin soapy head. Nose is mostly sweet malt with traces of honey and tones of dried fruit. Flavor is a mirror image of the aroma with hints of Farmhouse funk. Medium in body yet has a watery texture.

On tap at Meridian Pint. Pours a clear, burnt orange with one ring of white head. Nose is sweet, stale candies, stale bread, a little vegetal, some funk, some dried orange, stale malt, only lightly soured. Flavor is sort of stale malt, oxidized, stale orange juice, carrot, some bitter greens. Light, dry finish.
