Draft. Pours very dark w/minimal head. Some nut, malt, coffee. Not a great flavor, kind of watery, not a lot of pop for a doppelbock.

Black with a large foamy tan head that faded quickly. Molasses, dark fruit and hints of anise and tobacco. Long finish. Moderately full boided.

Tap at sly fox. Rich and chocolate heavy. Bready, delicious. Quite drinkable for the ABV. Deep brown black body. Good.

On draft at the Mad Fox Maibock Festival 2014. Pours a clear cola brown with an ecru head. Roasted nuts in the nose. Flavors tend to the sweet side, with raisin and caramel. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. Slight sweet finish with some lingering roasty notes.

Draft. Hazy amber color. Very malty, but not overly sweet, with a toasted caramel start and a bitter edge.

Immediate carbonation explosion upon opening. Poured dirty brown. Aroma is rotten vegetable soup. Taste is sour malt and vegetable. May have been a defective bottle.

22 ounce bottle from New Beer Distributors in Manhattan. Pours a dark ruby red color with a medium head. Average head retention and lacing. I find the aroma to be quite odd... prunes, raisins, soap, caramel. Taste is dark fruits, toffee, bread, anise. Smooth, medium bodied. This one is pretty much all over the place, but still fairly decent.

Pours a translucent deep brown with a white head that faded completely rather quick. Aroma is strange and not very inviting. The good: maple syrup and caramel. The bad: teriyaki sauce and smoke. The flavor is alright, good enough to save this bomber from a drain pour: malty, sugary, caramel, grain and biscuit. Finish is a little thick but drinkable. Not a beer that looks or smells great, but the proof is in the pudding and the strong doppelbock flavor makes this beer decent.
