Keg at Good Beer Faucets. Dark red/brown colour with small gold bubbly head which soon fades. Aroma is sweet, bit of caramel, some spice and smoke, burnt, plums and berries. Taste is a bit liquorice, some roastiness at the end, chocolate, caramel and spice. Quite full on. Rerate at Thrash Zone, Nov 14, very Belgian but roaster and chocolatier than I remember. Nice sweetness. Good stuff

Tap at TrashZone. End of the keg so on the house. Deep brown with a finger of head. Rum raisin cake nose with lots of dark fruit plum, prune and dark grapes. Super smooth, but a little heavy. More fruit and caramel notes as it warms. Finish is sweet but has spice and star anise. Good stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Karumina on 11 Jan 2016 at 18:39 - Score: 7

On tap at Craft Man. A dark reddish brown pour with a tan head. Spicy yeasty aroma. Winey, boozey but tastey. A Belgian strong with a chocolatey malt backbone. Quite nice, you really don’t taste that 10% at all-dangerous!

Draught at Popeye, Tokyo. Very dark brown. Coffee and cherry liqueur up front. Sweet and full bodied with lots of estery alcohol. Caramelly chocolate sauce and cherry builds upto a pungent alcoholic finish.

Bottled at Thrash Zone, Yokohama. Very dark brown, small head. Intriguing aroma of strawberry, tiger balmand cofee. Fairly sweet with medium-full body. There’s aniseed and ginger. Despite it’s size it feels so light and sparkling at times that I can almost imagine that I’m drinking a ginger ale, but then there is depth too. Its fruity and herbal with roasty malt and that confusing tiger balm. Fun stuff indeed.

Bottle from Yamaoka. Pitch black with a thin, lacy brown head. Spicy, flowery roasted malt aroma, slightly earthy and nutty, dry, with dark fruit and orange. Fruity, strong malt flavor, with raisins, ginger, orange, a touch of chocolate. Slightly sour edge and not very sweet at all. Well attenuated for sure! Funky, barnyard character in there as well. Not what I was expecting. Pretty good roasted malt bitterness in the finish as well. Or is that hops? Rather thin palate with low carbonation. Really different. Nicely done. Can’t taste that 10% alcohol at all!
