Tap at Craft Beer Market Toranomon. Dark amber colour, small thin golden head. Aroma is fruity, lots of booze, brandy, Danish pastry, brown bread, marzipan.Taste is really cakey, fruit, booze again, quite unusual, some sweetness hidden in there. Doesn't feel so strong. Full body, but quite easy to drink. Very unusual, but quite nice.

33 cl bottle @ olio. Bottled 19.1.2018, BBE 19.5.2019
Aroma has stuffy malty tones and vanilla. Also sweet berry juice tones. Flavour has malty tones, some sweet berries. Finishes with some tartness, sweet malt and grapefruit. Too acidic for my taste.

Bottle - Made for Lezzet - Vinous, grains, malty sweetness, orange hops. Clear copper with a thin beige head. Orange hops, caramel and an intense woody bitterness that overwhelms the end and finish.

On tap at the Kyoto Craft Beer Fest. 35 IBUs It poured with a nice rich ruby color. It was malty sweet & rich though slightly overcarbonated for the style I felt. I agree with KyotoLefty, it’s a nice barleywine but a bit too young. I’m happy they tapped a keg at 5:30pm so I could get a taste!

Draught at BBS, 3 year aged version. Very nicely aged, soft, mellow, great malt flavors are balanced well with the sweetness and alcohol. Very good. Rating is for this version, as it is best. Bottle at the Golden Garden, Hiroshima, 2009: 7/4/7/3/14 Dark brown with lots of cherry red and a tall head. Big fruity nose, lots of malt and caramel. Flavors of chocolate and caramel, not much fruit. Some what muddy and alcoholic, and very bitter—no hop aroma but a strong bitterness from burnt malt and hops. A bit harsh, but it displays nice malt richness, with rich, layered malt somewat reminiscent of a doppelbock. Needs a bit of fine tuning, but a good first try for a company that never made a strong beer before.
