Can: Moderately strong aroma of dried leaves and peanut hulls, toffee hints. Hazy orange, relatively large floaties, no head. Dried leaves, subtle orange peel in the background. Solid malt backbone, a bit yeasty. Lemongrass finish. Full flavored APA, decent balance, but tastes stale. Can is undated.

Bomber from Liz. Pours clear copper with a slight white head. Firm roast malt aroma backed by a bit of citrus. Med body or better. Flavor is typical roast malt with a pleasing citrus bitter. It’s very drinkable, finishing on the bitter side for sure.

22oz bottle shared by Brian, Unfiltered brown-tan, steady foamy head. Middle of the road, balanced APA. Caramel, earthy malt tones. Easy drinking, maybe leaning towards malt centered. Almost a touch of gingerbread, rye. Decent, but quite forgettable and unimpressive for 2012.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 04/05/2012. The beer is a hazy orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates slowly. Short strings of lace. Aroma of floral hops and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of hops, earthy malt and citrus. The finish is mildly bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tall boy can. Pours clear gold with a tall white head. Good fresh hop aroma. The flavor has a good hop flavor and bitterness that is supported nicely by a firm malt base. I usually prefer IPAs, but this will suit an IPA lover easily. Not overly bitter but it’s not weak on the hops in any way.

Can. Light amber body with an off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Floral aroma with notes of toasted grain and not much else. The flavor lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture turning slightly syrupy, moderate carbonation. Husky taste. Bitterness dominates with few hop flavors except for some slight resin and grapefruit. Way too much raw grain in the flavor.

Purchased at Armanetti’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed while working for home on a rainy Thursday afternoon. Appearance a very vibrant and slightly cloudy dark orange with a rich, frothy white head that sticks to the glass. Aroma of dirty & grassy hops, a bit of orange peel, a touch of sweetness, kinda smells like an IPA. Taste is pretty refreshing and in all honesty tastes like a slightly less hoppy version of Half Acre’s Daisy Cutter. It’s definitely \"sessionable\", a very smooth, crisp, and bitter easy drinker. Definitely enjoying this one, nothing outstanding but solid.

$3.50 draft @ Bavarian Lodge (help ’em blow all their kegs before their summer break!) Outstanding PNW hop nose—the right balance of citrus and pine. On tap,it’s cloudy, but a bright amber, sporting a meringue hat. On my first sip, I’m thinking "hop candy!" But any idea of sweetness comes from the citrus hop, backed by resin. More than a little basic hop bitterness appears after that. The malt has to fight for attention here, and somehow punches a taste of red wine to me. Daring for a new retail brewer to make this hoppy APA its first product; blame the baleful influence of their brewmaster, Richard Grant, former assistant at Flossmoor Station.
