Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 4/28/11, as Lakefront Big Easy Imperial Maibock
Aroma: The aroma has notes of bread, yeast, caramel, and some toffee
Appearance: It pours a hazy orange color with pretty much no head
Flavor: The taste is fairly malty, decent amount of sweetness, hops are rather mild
Palate: The carbonation has a somewhat lingering liveliness to it, and a stickiness that lightly cloying
Overall Impression: I wanted this one to be better then it was. It wasn't a terrible beer, but when I was drinking it I couldn't help but wonder if it could be better. Anyway, not one that is worth rushing out for.

Bottle as Big Easy Imperial Maibock from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours light amber with a creamy off-white head. Smells more sweet than anything, but there might be some grassiness. Med plus body. It is sweet. There is an herby/grassy aspect that might be hop. There is a little bitter, but not enough to squelch the malt. There’s a flavor suggestion that this stuff might be related to malt liquor. Tinge of that sort of aroma too. This one leaves me conflicted.

Loose Bottle, $1.50 @ Binny’s. Good amber color, with plenty of bubble activity to a thin head. Smell is a little bit phenolic, like a malt liquor. Taste does have big malts to it, but may have gone a little overboard, as again I get the fusel alcohol of a malt liquor. Can’t think of it much as a maibock, but a perfectly fine alcohol delivery system. Some fortified wine notes toward the end.

Imperial Maibock 7.7%. Draft at Old Fashioned. Hazy orange-tan color. Thin head. Some sugary, alcohol-laced orange in the aroma. Thick and full bodied. Sugary, it certainly makes it’s potency known within a few sips. Lakefront does big, strong lagers right, this being further evidence. An interesting take on the style.

Pour is a copper with a large white head. Aroma is some sour fruit with a decent yeast. Flavor is more fruity esters with a little creamy yeast toward the end. This is a decent enough beer.

Hazy orange, sediment-laden body, thin off-white head. Toasty aroma with burnt caramels and hints of candy corn. Sweet, candy-like body, with notes of nuts and honey (reminiscent of Bit-o-Honey candies), caramel, and toast. Sharp carbonation, light sweet finish.
