Tap at Maxs. $3.50 a pint, had to bite. Rich and sweet, with a definite persimmon flavor. A little sugary. Not unlike a pumpkin beer in richness, but with persimmon.

Sample at the Super Bowl Viewing and Beer tasting on 02/01/2015. Pouors a hazy dark golden color with a thick white head that burns away gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruity hops, malt and slight brett. Medium body with flavors of vine fruit, brett yeast, florals and malt. The finish is mildly sour with a fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.

22 oz bottle pour split. #11 in the series and listed at 6% abv. Pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a fizzy head. Slightly sour citrus and light banana like aroma. Flavor is easy drinking, with light hops, and a yogurt like yeast flavor. Cool finish with brett yeast and mild hops. Interesting take on the style. A lot like a pale ale with a slight sour side to it. I enjoyed this.

Slightly dull dark tan, has some sweetness up front, light fruit late. Just the faintest hint of tartness. I guess I don’t understand what I’m drinking, not being familiar with persimmon.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Whole Foods Bowery, 3/17/13, Happy Brackets Day to All, and to All a Good Tourney!
Aroma: The nose is light funky and somewhat sour, with some yeast, earth, fruit and a little brett
Appearance: This one pours a hazy gold-orange color with a thin film of white head and no lace
Flavor: The taste leans much more sweet, though there's a sour/funky and a bit spicy backbone
Palate: The body is fairly light, but not watery, with a tingly carbonation, and a funky finish
Overall Impression: First off, this one gets me to 11/12 of the series, which is a series I really enjoyed. I never saw #8 (Maelstrom Blood Orange Ale), but I'll definitely keep an eye out as I'd love to complete the series. Anyway, as for this one, I thought it was solid for sure. I don't know enough about persimmon to pick it out, but I assume it is there. It is also quite tingly on the mouth, which is something I'm generally not a huge fan of, but it works well here, and really seems to enhance the flavor profile of this beer. This may not be an ideal sour for everyone, as it a little too sweet, but I still found it to be a tasty beer.
