This hearty red-brown ale has a slight smokey aroma of sweet caramel and lightly toasted malt. The flavor is malty, yet very smooth, with a delicate hop finish and a creamy head.

Pint bottle pours a hazy dirty brownish amber with weak tan head. The aroma is full with a big dose of peaty malts along with dark biscuit malts, caramel and easily noticeable smokiness. Mmmm. The taste is much like the aroma with peat, smoke and caramel all hitting at once up front. That combination holds for some time until hints of lightly roasted to biscuit malts briefly surface along with caramel hard candy. My only complaints are that the body is a tad on the watery side along with the flavor notes being a bit too bright and not quit as smooth and blended as they could be. Still, tasty offering.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a thin rim of beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, leading to a dry and slightly roasted end.

(Bottle 47 cll) Pours a clear, orangey brown with a beige head. Aroma of peat smoke and burned malt. Medium body with accents of burned caramel and whisky malt. The finish is dry and bitter. Very smoked indeed - this almost ought to be a Smoked in style. 290407

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 7 Oct) Dark brown colour with ruby notes, off-white creamy head. Malty nose with hints of smoke (wet birch-wood?) and dark fruit. Malty taste with dried fruit (raisins, prunes) and hints of smoke. Medium to full body, sweetish and warming. Nice balance. Would be lovely on a chilling winter afternoon.

Bottled. Orange/dark nutty brown colour, off-white head. Aroma is leather, malts and a bit hops. Flavour is quite the same with also some nuts in it. A lot like Orkney’s Skull splitter in my opinion.

[Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival] Clear dark amber. Fruits and peat hits my nose heavy at first contact. Fairly sweet with some green apples and near full body. Lots of malt in here, and the mouthfeel is gracefully soft, but green apples disturbs.
