A ruckus of complex flavor is carried in on the amber glow of torchlight. As tension builds between hop bitterness and the malty tones delivered by locally grown and malted grist, a perfect balance is achieved. The robust texture of rye allies itself with the flavors from specialty malts and hops to rebel against preconceived notions of beer. Unseat the crown. Start a Riot.

Bottled. Deep reddish brownish. That clean minty rye taste and smell. Malty heart. Pretty nice.

Bottle from Nate.
This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a white rocky foamy head. Took forever to dissipate. Mild stringy lace.
The aroma had a sweet floral to herbal earthy malty flow to the hops which were slightly citrusy, woody and piney.
The flavor yielded to the sweet side embracing all of the same tones of the aroma. Some caramel malts meld fine into the beer. Aftertaste was the blend of the malts to the floral/earthy portions. Finish was long and malty.
The palate was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, seemed alright for the most part, but I was hoping for more \"rye.\" I missed that memo of these guys not putting it in this beer. How about I start a riot at this brewery for rye to be put in the beer?

Bottle. Hazy Amber. Large head. Smells of black tea with hints of citrus. Taste is a lightly fruity malty mix of dried leaves, tea, dark fruits, and citrus peel. This is tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run, 4/4/15. Clear copper, large foamy off-white head. Good retention. Aroma of strong rye, herbal notes, caramel malt. The taste is fruity and bitter rye, toasted malt, caramel malt, piney finish. Thin-medium bodied, moderate lingering bitterness.

Nice rich amber and copper coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Super pungent aroma of bright resinous and piney hops with a large rye presence, some alcohol and a lot of dank bitterness - nice and mouthwatering. Medium-bodied; Assertive hop flavour with some nuts and earth coming through, hints of caramel and a rather large malt body showing the specialty grain characteristics and not a clean note at all. Aftertaste shows a rich caramel flavour with the hops coming hard and fast and a pleasant sweetness on the end. Overall, a nice, rich rye beer with a lot of complexity and a nice balance throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom, Eye Street NorthWest), DC on 15-January-2015 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 24-March-2015.
