Deep dark brown coloured body with a large-bubbled head just showing a touch of deep brown colours. Strong chocolate and spice in the nose with a bit of raspberry and grain, but a lot of roasted malt and a bit of coffee as well. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty flavours with some lactose and coffee noticeable, but a large presence of malt, raspberries and grain. Aftertaste shows some malt and coffee with milk sugars and some cream noticeable, all finishing with some raspberries. Overall, a nicely balanced beer with a good profile and a touch of fruit. This naturally should be classified as a sweet stout, but a good beer, not great and not bad throughout. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom, Eye St NW), DC on 25-May-2015 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Washington on 01-June-2015.

Poured from the tap. Black with minimal beige head. Mild roast malt, very subtle raspberry sweetness, a little spicy Belgian yeast at the end. A little light.

Bomber. Pours a ruddy black color with a medium light brown head. A big chocolate and light berry nose. The flavor is sweet raspberries, coffee, dark chocolates. I’m not getting a ton of Belgian yeast in it. The overall flavor is super sweet berries and light stout flavors. Pretty good.

Black color, raspberry aroma, nice chocolate flavor, and moderate sweetness. Actually pretty good.
2015-04-23, draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver, 6-4-5-2-11=28
Black color, compact head. Mild aroma of roasted malts and cardboard. Roasted malt flavor, rather dry, also more body was expected given the high ABV, and once more the raspberries add nothing g good to black beers, as their tartness doesn’t blend with the roasted malts.
Could be an OK beer for somebody, but the result is cacophonous.

Draft at the brewery. Plastic cup. Gotta love owning day Mariners baseball. Clearly as a re-release, independent from the series. I don’t think the beer has changed one bit. Just the name has become a little more abbreviated. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Sweet mild coffee aroma. Raspberry chocolate flavor. Actually really reminds me of a Theo’s brand raspberry chocolate bar. Rich flavor with a sweet raspberry flavor. This beer is growing on me. Pretty good stuff.

Sample at the Super Bowl Viewing and Beer tasting on 02/01/2015. The beer is a dark brownish-black color with a touch of ruby around the edges. Medium khaki head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and mild raspberry. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, sweet chocolate and raspberries. The finish is malty up front with a subtle berry aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Draught @ The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours murky dark cherry red with small light tan head. Clear aroma of chocolate and malt. Dark flavour of malt, roast and chocolate with notes of coffee. Mild finish. OK. A very nice stout, but the fruity note is absent.
