Inspired by the altbiers of Germany this ale has a spicy hop character complemented by toasty malt notes. This beer pairs perfectly with hearty meals and evenings by the fireside or after a day on the slopes. Like Old Man Winter the Secret Spot Ale only comes out to play once a year so get out and enjoy it.

Draft at Rustico Alexandria. Poured a ruby copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma was light sweet malts, spices. Light crisp notes, with some floral and citrus hop notes to finish this one out. Pretty easy to drink.

12oz glass at Big Hunt DC pours a clear copper with some tight, white head. Nose has mostly sweetness, toffee, cracker, bread, slightly metallic. Flavor follows right along, malty sweetness, caramel, mild spice, mild yeast. Drank a bit fuller than the abv let on.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Total Wine-McLean, 2/13/13

Aroma: The nose is clean and malty, some nutty notes, a bit of fruit, toasted malts, and caramel
Appearance: It pours a reddish color with a small beige head and some medium lacework
Flavor: The flavor is mid-sweet, pretty much all malts with just a tiny hint of hop bitterness to it
Palate: The body is medium, it drinks cleanly enough, with average carbonation, and a sticky finish
Overall Impression: Rater #22! This is a solid beer, but not a standout for me. It is malty, drinkable, and fine, but it just doesn't have anything that would make you really rush out and try one.
