22oz bottle from Connecticut Ave pours a murky black with some thin, tan head. Nose is quite meaty, some BBQ sauce, molasses, licorice, malt, toast, some dark chocolate. Flavor follows right along, molasses, roast, a little mushroom, toast, licorice, burnt caramel, light smoke. Full, meaty finish. A nice, chewy stout.

Reviewed from notes.
Thanks to Rick for bringing this one back from your NC trip.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Light lacing stuck and then slid.
The smell had a graceful blend of roasty to sweet coffee to dark chocolate with a light robust milk chocolate insisting upon my nose.
The taste was mainly roasty and robust sweet chocolate and coffee.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a semi - sessionable quality about it. The carbonation was appropriately styled and was good for me.
Overall, Rick please go back and get more of this stellar beer.

A deep dark stout with a very thin off white head. A superb aroma of chocolate covered cherries and alcohol, muskey and complex. In mouth, a beautiful complex stout with nice restrained bitter chocolate, nice Brett notes, oak barrel, smooth and enticing. On tap at Great North Carolina Brewers Fest., August 28 2010.

Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a very dark chocolate brown with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and faint hops. Taste is roasted malts, herbal hops, bitter espresso and green apple. Medium to full bodied,
