bottle shared by thedm and hotstuff - Pours amber-orange with a small, off-white head. The aroma is of toffee malt and seems a little woody. The flavor is sweet toffee malt with some decent hops balance. It’s pretty light for a barley wine. While quite drinkable and even somewhat good, there’s not a lot going on here.

12oz bottle pours a translucent, copper amber with a creamy white head. Aroma is malty, spicy, candy. Flavor is sweet, caramel, bitter oranges, malts. Finish is lightly bitter, full bodied.

Nice cola coloured body with a thinnish look, a light tan head that fades fast and an oily top. Aroma of pit fruits, caramel, nuts, cherries, alcohol and a touch of oak. Medium to Full-bodied; A very mild and underpowered barley wine, showing hints of caramel, nuts and pit fruits, but very mild compared to a typical barleywine. Dry aftertaste with oak, vanilla and some pit fruits near the end, but still pretty underpowered. Overall, a decent beer, but with much less power than a typical american barley wine. Nice to try, since it seems a bit rare - but I’d rather have pretty much every other barley wine instead of this one. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 14-March-2010, sampled from home in Washington on 12-May-2010.
