Scottish Barleywine

(Can) Hazy deep brown with short lived tiny pale brown head. Great aroma. Toffee, dried fruit, hints of smoke. Great mouthfeel. Full bodied, sticky with fine carbonation. Great taste too. There’s plenty of toffee malt with dried fruit and notes of booze. Some pleasant tartness at the start and some bitter notes providing some good balance to the malt. Very enjoyable.

From a 250ml can (from a four pack of different big beers in the Royalty Edition). Pours a very deep amber/brown with no discernible head. The nose features some fruit cake, and light caramel and toffee notes. Tastes of rye bread, brown sugar, preserved fruit, caramel, toffee with a touch of spice. Moderately bitter at the back with a good dash of warming, lingering booze. Syrupy mouthfeel with moderate to average carbonation. A very enjoyable big sipper. Love the idea of putting these big beers in little cans - the tall boys are perhaps a bit too much if you're not sharing.
