This "wee heavy" style of Scotch Ale ain't your red cup, party slamming, "WOOO!" style of beer. A "sip and savor", high octane beer, it is deceptive in it's smooth drinkability. A big malty taste swirling with notes of caramel and toffee, and a subtle peat taste allows you the chance to sit back, exhale, and fully enjoy this cool weather ale.

Sampled from the tap at NotB. Poured a clear gold with a white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had some light fruits, bread, caramel and cereal with a bit of pine coming out as well. Flavor began with sweet bread and grains with a bit of earthiness and a bit of bitterness coming out in the finish.

Courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours hazy copper with tan head. The aroma is a mix of spicy and earthy hops as well as spicy oak like notes followed by sweet malts and crystal malts. The taste is a bold combination of spicy hops, spicy cedar like wood notes, earthy hops and then sliding into citrus hops midway to the finish. Yummy brew.

Pours deep clear amber into a thistle. Off-white head quickly recedes to hug rim leaving spot lacing. Dark caramel and vanilla aromas. Roasted nuts and dark caramel upfront turning to a burning vanilla and bourbon finish.

Bottle from a recent trade as an extra. Pours out amber/copper topped with a small head. Aroma was of vanilla, rich malts, and a little nut. Taste was wood, nut, caramel, and the vanilla still sticking around.

Dark gold color, a color at scotch ale shouldn’t be. Sweet and malty. disappointingly, no other flavors really. Drinkable enough, if rather plain.

courtesy of Tony @ OTH. Pours copper, white head. Aroma , brown sugar, malt, dark fruits and lots of booze. Taste, this is a damn booze bomb, lots of caramel malts, some oak/wood, vanilla, dark fruits, light mocha.. Plenty of sweetness, with a barrel like mouthfeel. Scotch ale or not, this is a fine beer, better reckon the power of the Wet Willy.

Sampled at Manhattan Cask Fest - cloudy brown beer - aroma of scotch, oak, vanilla, coconut, roasted nuts - kind of boozy up front, but it mellows out, revealing coconut, oak, banana, some flowery notes, and background spices - notes of brown sugar makes things a little too sweet - alcohol is heavy in the finish, but the scotch flavors make it a little more tolerable - there are a lot of conflicting flavors going on that make this a confusing experience.
