Notes from May 2009 Bottle brought back in late February. BB notch seems to have washed away in the condensation. Poured into my DFH rounded glass. Golden, vaguely cloudy grainy-looking brew. Half inch of wispy head leaves transparent uniform stitching. Smell is so obviously artificial. Much too strong & waxy. Along with the malt though, it comes off a lot like kid's cereal or $1 packs of Hostess blueberry-flavored pies. A little appetizing if just it's a bit nostalgic. Taste is plastic phenols & headache inducing/medicinal blueberry popsicle flavors. The grain is chalky & just totally lays down to die. Natural Flavor Added means it comes from a naturally synthesized chemical flavor plant in Jersey. Feel is like I said, chalky. Carbonation is alright. I prefer Wachusett's take on blueberry, which adds just a touch of earthiness, along with better pronounced malt. With Dark Horse's Tres being the only real pronounced, tart & earthy blueberry beer I've ever encountered. Blueberries should be the perfect accessory to a thirst quenching beer. This one doesn't work. Sickening quasi-natural beer additives only promote bad headaches & teenage pregnancy.

On tap at The Malted Barley, pours a clear pale copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out lightly sweet blueberries, with a little bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with subdued tart blueberries. Not much depth here - quite faded, but it's clean enough. Meh.

Bottle from Wegman's. Dark gold and clear, with light to medium body and strong blueberry nose. Blueberry is not pronounced in the taste, which is hoppy but not so nice. There are better choices in this style.

12 fl oz bottle from Nikki’s Liquors, Providence, 1.79 $. Pours out dark golden with an one finger white head. Really some blueberry on the nose. Taste strats with blueberry, but also present malt in the background. Soft palate. Not too sweet. Increasing malt in the secondpart. Nice one of its kind.

Bottle 355ml @ La Quinta Inn & Suites, Portland, ME
Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt and artificial blueberries. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long light grainy and blueberry finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin, carbonation is soft to fizzy

Bottle. A more or less clear one, dark golden in color and with a small, off-white head. The aroma is dominated by blueberries, unfortunately it’s in a quite artificial way. Some generic fruityness and a biscuity malt touch too. The flavor is pretty much the same, artificial blueberry and biscuity malts, but there’s also some piney, grassy hops and bitterness. Medium to thin on the palate, with a soft carbonation. Fake, grainy finish. Not actually bad this one, but way too artificial for my liking. 150609

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright golden color with a medium sized foamy yellow-white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy sugar, blueberry and a touch of blue raspberry. The flavor was bitter and dryish with cardboard and faint vague berries. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

12 oz. bottle. Amber color with a purple hue. The aroma is light blueberry and honey malt. The flavor is the same. I bet this was a fan favorite back in 2004 or 2005. But the thin body, weak grain and soapy blueberry just doesn’t do it for me. Weak like 80 percent of fruit based beers.

Bottle. Pours orange gold with white head. A bit overcarbonated. Nose is fresh blueberry, banana and wheat malt. Taste is same, but muted blueberry. A touch of metal in finish. Lighter medium body.

Served on draft at the brewery, Pours a hazy amber color with a large creamy white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of intense, tart blueberries with pale malts. The taste is sweet and tart blueberries with bready malts. Medium bodied. Nice.
