Created by Corey Martin.
Corey has been working on his Munich Dunkel for some time and the result is this amber, medium-bodied brew. With a nice malty backbone, this lager has roasty, slightly spicy notes and a traditional doughy character from the yeast. It is well worth the time he took to perfect it.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with red highlight and a medium sized foamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweetish, tang and malty with notes of molasses and cherry. The flavor was tangy, malty and woody with a bit of nut, cherry and fig. The finish was medium length malty and fruity. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

Bottle from Binny’s, bought in April. The familiar malty, grainy smell of a German dark lager greets me under the cap. Pours a big tan head over a dark brown body. Taste has a caramel malt to it, minus the graininess from the nose. Suggestions of dark cherry and a whiff of brandy, then some banana ester. Sticky malt finish. Nice dark beer which seems to get its character straight from malt, no over roastiness.

Pours a cherry cola color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel and mild hops. Light to medium body with flavors of bready malt, caramel and earthy hops. The finish is malty with a sweet aftertaste. Decent beer overall.

Bottle. Pours with a clear bronze hued body with a small, off-white head. Aromas of toasted malts, nutty, maple, molasses, munich, earthy, soil. Flavors are nutty, toasted malts, munich, soil. Malt balance, earthy, slight spicy. Dry despite the malt presence. Medium bubbles, slightly fuller bodied.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with large creamy beige head lasting awhile leaving spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is raisin malt and yeast. Medium mouthfeel with a roast and caramel and slight mettalic finish. A decent dunkel.

12oz bottle pours clear amber with thin tan head. The aroma pulls up some dusty malt roastiness, dry wrinkled prune like fruity esters, blueberry candy and chocolate malts along with a roasty malt sort of earthiness. The taste is pretty clean and crisp even with this sizable load of various roasted malts. I get nearly dark roasted malts, chocolate malts and a hint of coffee as well as sweet dark fruity esters such as blueberries and prunes. Likeable enough product and an interesting take on the style where this one seems actually light on the yeasty esters.

Pours a clear deep dark chestnut brown with an ample off-white head. Inviting nuttly malt aroma. Good malt sweetness with just a touch of sharpness which detracts a bit. A pretty decent beer. It’s a shame that some of these longshots aren’t out for a while in six packs by themselves.

I enjoyed the latest Longshot 6 pack. Retention in my mug. Smell is malt and an Earthy hop. Medium Sweetness with the light hop bitterness to balanced it. Creamy texture. This home brewer did a great job creating a German type Dunkel. Well done sir!

A fine example of the style. Filmy beige head, dark brown malty but not too sweet flavour, Lekker bit of hop in the finish. Caramely aroma.
