Sample at the tap room. Black pour with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, dark chocolate and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of charred malt, chocolate and mild hops. The finish is roasty with a short malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Bruisin' Ales, 1/13/15

Aroma: The nose is on the lighter side, with dark malts, dark chocolate, licorice, and roast
Appearance: Pours an opaque black-brown color with a bubbly beige-brown head and lots of lace
Flavor: Roasty and fairly unsweet up-front, sweet chocolate comes through in the mid-end palate
Palate: This one has less body than I expected from the description, feels closer to watery than it does to heavy, it is somewhat creamy, but with more carbonation than I was expecting as well
Overall Impression: You really have to work to get any aroma, the components are solid, but muted. The flavor comes through a bit more. The palate disappointed me, because I was expecting a full bodied, creamy, smooth beer, and that isn't what I got at all. Overall, this is just okay.

Very dark brown, almost opaque. Shows a little ruby around the edges. Tan head. Aroma of dusty chocolate and coffee. The flavor is sweet on the front that is balanced nicely with the hop bitterness, yet retaining the malty aspect overall. Very nice Porter.

Tap at Bier Garden, Asheville. Brown-black, some stained-glass corners. Steady thin beige head. Sweet roasty cocoa aroma, a touch of coffee. Creeping towards Stout. Medium bodied, somewhat watery, but big specialty malt tones. A touch too roasty for the style, but a nice beer.
