A dark brown porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, a superb coffee ad chocolate mocha, grassy, some nice wood extract notes. In mouth, a nice chocolate mocha, subdued and pleasant, medium bodied. On tap at Twin City Brewfest, August 13 2011.

Draft @ Jack of the Wood, Asheville, NC. Pours a black color with a tan head. Has a roasted malty licorice and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty licorice and chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish.

Growler pours clear mahogany with ruby red edges and assertive tan head. The aroma is a nicely roasted maltiness, chocolate and sweet malt balls. The taste is pretty smooth and fresh with robust mild chocolate mixing with thin layers of dark roastiness and malt balls. It stays pretty sweet but some roastiness works at drying it out a bit into the finish.

on tap-pours a tan head and mahogany color. Aroma is sweet dark malt-nutty/roasty. Taste is sweet dark malt-nutty/roasty, tart fruit, earthy hops.

Sampler at the brewpub. Pours a dark chocolate brown with a medium head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts with earthy, slightly metallic hops. Taste is roasted malts, caramel, hops and faint chocolate. Medium bodied. This beer seemed to have a strong desire to spill. First my server spilled some and then I did later. What the heck? 1400th rating. Woot!
