This beer is a Belgian Tripel that lives up to its name. Smooth and carefully crafted like a fine velvet painting, but with an 8.5% ABV this bird has some spurs! The beer pours a golden straw color with brilliant clarity. Topped with a lofty pure white head the beer has a wonderful floral nose, with subtle fruit notes. The taste is clean and crisp, with subtle fruit notes and a touch of candy like sweetness. The beer has a Champagne-like effervescent that provides a crisp offset to its sweet finish. While a pint glass is always nice, Velvet Rooster
would also be at home in a tulip glass or Champagne flute. Something to crow about.

Sampled from a can this beer poured a cloudy vibrant orange-apricot color with a huge foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was musty with pepper, coriander and yeast. The flavor was musty and tangy with sugar, chalk, perfume, yeast, bread and a bit of alcohol. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied.

How can you go wrong? 12 oz can of 9% for 2 bucks? That's as good as it gets, but wait, Me thinks it even is craft beer! YEAH! Pour is crystal clear pale yellow. Rocky white head and the aroma is muted sweet volatile beer. First taste is rather rude somewhat cloying mess which approaches that of domestic wannah-bee triples but its more like a rather uncivilized domestic double. Taste is in yer face and, it never stops letting you know yer drinken a dizzying impact brew. Yes, yer gonnah at least catch a mild buzz after this mahfah. Reminiscent of forties of cheap name brand ice beer, you know, the common cheap pale US lager with a ice, one point higher abv, connotation. Hey wait, maybe its that cheap malt likkah! Needs some manners if it wants to be a real, mild mannered civilized old euro with a surprise in the end. Overall, except for the high quality buzz, this is one big rude almost barley wine style beer. Thanks TG!

12 ounce can into chalice, best before 7/8/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big peach, apricot, melon, lemon, pear, apple, pepper, light banana/clove, honey, candi sugar, wheat, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big peach, apricot, melon, lemon, pear, apple, pepper, light banana/clove, honey, candi sugar, wheat, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of peach, apricot, melon, lemon, pear, apple, pepper, banana, clove, honey, candi sugar, wheat, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/creamy, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is an excellent tripel! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and pretty refreshing to drink. A touch on the malty side for the style; but still has impressive complexity and balance, with adequate carbonation and dryness. A really enjoyable offering.

Draft. A- Peaches, candy, slightly sweet, wheat, stone fruits. A- Golden orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Pineapple, peaches, white wine, slightly sweet, subtle floral notes. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, refreshing finish. O- Didn’t ever expect a Tripel to be like this. Maybe I just haven’t tried enough. Tons of nice fruit tones and very refreshing. Kind of wish I would’ve had more.

Can: Slightly hazy, golden-amber with a small white head. Peach, lemon scent. Taste is mildly yeasty, fruit.....sweet with a pronounced fruit-peel bittering. Not too boozy, nor too sweet....pretty good.
