Hoppy Wheat Beer

With roots in two of today's most popular brewing styles, 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer is the result of careful cultivation by our brewers and cellarmen. Their efforts to craft a hybrid yielded a bumper crop of flavor; a delightfully distinctive ale with the aroma of an IPA and the refreshing taste of a wheat beer.

12oz bottle. Poured a real hazy yellow color with a nice, thick white head. Aroma was a grainy, wheat note, with some light citrus and malt notes. Flavor was notes of some wheat notes, hops and malts. Flavor was plenty of hops, citrus. Very interesting. Props for originality. Enjoyed.

12 oz. bottle thanks to queenholly. My weizen glass shows bright yellow color with tons of foamy head. Sheets of head retention down the glass. Great nose of lemons and yeasty wheat notes. The flavor is really flavorful. Grapefruit rind, Earthy yeasty wheat with a medium bitterness from citrus hops in the finish. Just enough malt to balance the beer and not have the hops over-power the wheat. Overall, I enjoy how the hops complement the wheat and don’t dominate. A session beer I could drink lots of and really damn refreshing. Also a beer I will buy more of. For me that speaks for itself!

12 oz. bottle, pours a completely opaque cloudy yellow with a small white head. Nose brings loads of dry crackery malts, loads of wheat and pronounced floral citrus hops - very dry and refreshing smelling. Flavour is more on the wheat side of the things, although still very hoppy, bringing out loads of fresh wheat, a bit of crackery malts and pungent dry floral hops that leaves a lingering finish. There is also a very subtle, light tartness in the there, but it's not in anyone puckering or dominant. Extremely refreshing and highly drinkable. Great stuff.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle obtained through trade with queenholly. Pours bright hazy golden with small/medium white head which dies down. Fluffy white lacing, medium body, well carbonated, and estery aroma. Taste is citrus, rich, and estery. Hands down the best wheat ale I have had. Thank you queenholly and thank you Boulevard.

Pours hazy light gold into a weizen. Bright white head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Caramel, yeast and resin aromas. Medium to sharp with sweet caramel and citrus front to back. Nicely balanced.

Bottle at RBWG 2013 Grand Tasting. Pours clear yellow with a light, white foam head. Sweet wheat, citrus. Good balance, not too sweet. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Clean finish, wheat and biscuity malts. Tasty.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a dissipating white head; leaves a skiff of foam and a little lace. Aroma consists of citrus powder drink, cooked vegetables (chilies?), catbox. Taste is a weird mixture of Bavarian Hefeweizen (clove) and IPA (citrusy hops). Weird isn’t a bad thing in this case. Crisp and thirst-quenching. Highly carbonated and a bit foamy in the mouth. Very interesting and tasty.

From notes. Very interesting beer. Aroma is of a super bitter pine and citrus IPA where the taste is a bready and doughy Hefe. Interesting and decent, but not my favorite. I"ll most likely drink it again though.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow with decent head. Strong hop aroma, with some wheat esters. Flavor is a rather strange mix of hops and wheat beer fruitiness. It almost tastes a bit metallic or chemical-ly. Not sure about this one.
