Hoppy Wheat Beer
With roots in two of today's most popular brewing styles, 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer is the result of careful cultivation by our brewers and cellarmen. Their efforts to craft a hybrid yielded a bumper crop of flavor; a delightfully distinctive ale with the aroma of an IPA and the refreshing taste of a wheat beer.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy light gold with a creamy/bubbly white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy. Mixed hop. Med body. Flavor is fruity/wheaty. There’s a certain problem with this hopped up wheat - suggests something of an off-flavor. But to concentrate on the hop - it’s hoppy, finishing dry with some suggestions of grapefruit rind.

Bottle. Deep yellow/golden body with a fizzy, white head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of citrus, fresh hop leafs, floral soap, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Any wheat flavor is muted by resin hop flavor along with floral notes. Plus, there was an odd taste of petroleum and metal. That flavor was not overwhelming, but it was there until the lingerng bitterness and carbonation overtook it.

Botttle. Pours a cloudy yellow with a small frothy white head diminishing quickly. The aroma is a floral hops and wheat grass. Thin mouthfeel with a light citrus and a nice sweet finish. A decent wheat ale from Boulevard.

Hazy gold with a thick, soapy head that diminishes to a rather thick lace - aroma is a lively, zesty mix of tangy citrus, sweet melon and herbal/peppery hops - soft carbonation - flavor is initially sweet, with light tropical fruit flavors - the middle has some moderate citrus tang - tail end has some peppery hops, moderate herbs, some lemon rind - refreshing and lively - a nice addition to their six pack line up - if only the Stingo I drop 13 bucks on earlier this week were as good.

Multiple samples at the Boulevard tasting room, post tour. Tour guide was good enough to supply me with a full pour! Pour is a cloudy hazed yellowish white with a smallish white head. Aroma is bright tropical pineapple fruit hop, orange fruit sweetness, along with the malt wheat, finishing with further sweetness. Taste is the bright tropical fruit hops, orange citrus fruit, both of which are balanced nicely with the wheat and malt. The finish reintroduces the sweetness of the nose. Fresh and vibrant, really nicely balanced. Palate is light to medium bodied, nice scrubbing active carbonation and a dry finish. High level of drink-ability. Nice, fun, alive interpretation of a classic.
