Pours a reddish-brown from a bottle, thin white effervescent head. Pretty much smells and tastes like cherry soda/juice. Not much going on, kind of one-dimensional. Good beer.

Lots of slightly sour cherries in this and a little lambic bretta. Not as terrible as ratings go it seems. Pours ruby with some pink head. Slight tangy finish. A little cloying on aftertaste. Bottle.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a deep cherry red colour, head has a pink tint. Aroma is of cherries, with an underlying sourness. Medium sweetness and sourness. Medium body, soft carbonation, texture is creamy. Not a style I drink often, but did quite enjoy this.

Bottle from Dranken Geers. Pours clear red with a thick pink head. Aroma of massive cherries, a little tart but mostly cherry drop sweets and the slightest touch of funk in a dusty public toilet way. Flavor is fairly heavy sweet with any acidity unfortunately hidden. Mouthfeel is reminiscent of when they put a tooth in a glass of cola overnight at school to warn us what it does to your teeth. Hmm, I guess that lesson stuck. Over light bodied with light carbonation.

When AB InBev introduced their Belle-Vue Kriek Extra years ago, it came as no surprise that other commercially oriented lambic producers tried the same thing, and Van Honsebrouck - which has a history of jumping on every beer trend which sticks up its head - did the same thing: they created this even more sweet and syrupy, lighter, summery version of their St.-Louis Kriek. I don’t even like the original version, so I won’t bother giving further comment about this cloying summer drink. Approach this not as a beer and certainly not as a lambic.

0,25L bottle, BB 01.2016. Pours red with pink head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is cherries, some sweetness. Flavor is sour and sweet, cherries. Overall: very easy to drink, like cherry lemonade.
