Bottle - thanks JCB! Well this is an interesting one! First pour is clear, but hazy to cloudy after that. Nice butterscotch color with some fizzy off white head that leaves good lacing in its wake. Aroma is very grapey, honey, grass, grain. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, very vinaceous. Light bitterness initially, but it grows with drinking. Light astringence from the time in barrel. Medium body, flat carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Lingering bitterness in the far finish. A very interesting beer and one I enjoyed drinking.

Spicy cumin, oak, nose, light overripe orange undercurrent. Clear amber, medium head. Rye flavor, bready with an orange accent. Balanced, spicy, wonderful. Excellent

750 mL bottle courtesy of Kinz at the 19th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. Pours a clear copper color with a thin frothy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel, herbal notes, grapes. The taste is stone fruits, bread, grapes, bitter hop finish. Tannic and vinous, slightly astringent. Medium bodied.

I can see why the ratings are mixed on this. Pours a clear yellow color with a medium white head. A sweet nose of dusty lemon and barrel. The flavor is vinous with wood, some lemon and zesty oranges, pretty mellow. Easygoing but flavorful. Nice.

Bottle thanks to carolinakevin, thanks! Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light wine note with some light fruit, earthy yeast with a backing sweet. Flavor begins with sweet grains, light fruit and grass with a bit of wine in the finish.
