On tap at the brewery. Pours black. Biscuit, chocolate, red fruit, slightly tart berry, light notes of vomit. Medium body. Pretty bad.

Tap. Pours clear mahogany, large creamy tan head, good lacing. Aroma is cocoa roast, fa she chocolate. Huh. Flavor is fully sweet, light bitter, really artificial. Ick. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

Draft at the source. Very dark brown color, no head to speak of. Aroma of dark milk chocolate. Taste is Hershey syrup which I think obscures the beer characteristics a bit.

22oz Bomber from DoctorB2B in a trade, Thanks!. Poured into an English Pint. Pours black with about a finger of dark tan head. Aroma is strongly chocolate with a little coffee and some roasty malt. Taste is medium bitter and light sweet. Like biting into a chocolate bar sprinkled with coffee dust. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, I’m really digging this beer. I would love to age one and see how it changes.

Opaque dark brown body with a thick tan head. Sweet milk chocolate aroma that almost resembles opening the wrapper on a Hershey’s Bar. The flavor is not as sweet as the aroma indicated. Nice Cocoa flavor just the same.

Location: On Tap at Legend, 12/26/09
Aroma: Aroma of coffee, and dark chocolate
Appearance: Dark brown/black color, tan head
Flavor: Roasted coffee up-front, semi-sweet chocolate - bitter finish
Palate: Nice mouthfeel with a good, long finish
Overall Impression: I really liked this beer. It is a chocolate porter for sure, but not in the traditional (sweet chocolate) sense. More of a bittersweet/semi-sweet/dark chocolate bitter flavor instead, but it works really well in my opinion. The ratings seem a bit low here, this beer was a rousing success at my table. A very nice brew.

22oz bottle-pours a rich cascading to rocky brown head and black color. Aroma is earthy, chocolate-dark malt. Taste is earthy hops first then chocolate/molasses/anise-dark malt/oat, ashy, and something medicinal-like.

Thanks to dickinsonbeer for sharing - turbid black pour - foamy lace - loads of cocoa in the aroma, with a soft herbal character - some root plant/vegetal quality in the nose as well - the flavor is quite the same, with the vegetal character really dominating, washing out the tastier chocolate notes - something is really off with this one, but you can tell there is a good beer in there somewhere.

220z bomber. Opaque black color with a big, frothy head. Odd sour burnt coffee and chocolate aroma, a little off certainly. The taste is rich and full of cocoa, honestly quite similar to Nestle Quik. Some roasty coffee in there as well. There is a lot going on in this beer, and it comes off a little muddled. Very tasty and flavorful, but the off aroma takes it down a few points. Better on tap Im sure.

Deep fully opaque brown coloured body, loooking like mud with a thin brown head. Aroma of fudge, chocolate and more chocolate with some malt, and a bit of coffee. Medium-bodied; Strong flavour of roasted malt with a large cacao presence and a bit of a coffee twang near the end. Aftertaste shows the bitter chocolate, coffee and of course, roasted malt. Overall, not a bad beer - a bit heavy on the sweetness, but not a bad beer at all - good to try, especially around Christmas! I sampled this 65 cL bottle, purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia all the way out in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 13-December-2005.
