22oz @ Ryan's. Best after 06/16/2011. Appearance: brown with a beige head. Aroma: holy smoke - tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes. Taste: much better, though - low to moderately sweet, roasted malts. Finished with hoppy/roasty bitterness. Overall: if you don't smell it, it's not bad for 12 years old beer.

Poured from 650mL bottle (best after 06/16/2011). Dark brown with small beige head and a bit of sediment. Chocolate and a ton of canned tomatoes on the aroma. Orange zest and mild chocolate with a touch of bourbon. Okay for such an old beer.

Dark brown. Medium head. Canned tomatoes on the nose, okay that's not good. That's really overwhelming. It is much better on the palate - still light tomato, definitely quite a bit of bitterness, especially bitter chocolate. I'd argue that the orange zest is lending some of the character I'm not liking. Past its prime, imperfect, but not bad.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of canned tomatoes -- literally, canned tomatoes galore, with a bit of cocoa nibs, and bready malt. Flavour is thankfully much better, with cocoa nibs, orange zest, and plenty of whiskey. Clearly this hasn't aged optimally, but for a 10+ year beer, it's solid enough really.

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VIII on 10/07/2016. The beer is a brown-black color with a medium thin light beige head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing. Malt, chocolate and oak in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate, oak and a bit of orange. The finish is chocolatey with a malty aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Poured at Rare Beer Tasting V. Pours black with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong roast, dark chocolate, spice, herbs. Thick mouthfeel, strong roasted malt, dark chocolate, light spice, lingering sweetness, very impressive.

At a vertical event at the Beveridge Place Pub in Seattle. I only went to get a chance to drink this beer, not because I thought I’d like it but just because its rare. Can’t tell its aged. Still fruity yeast and still a perceptible hoppiness. To me this comes off as I fruit and some bitterness. Also, that unsweet chocolate syrup is strong. But its also a big beer with light alcohol and big thick malts but no fortunately no autolysis. F: lighter feel than expected. Just bitter and dark malts. Not interesting.
