Triomphe is made with a classic Belgian style yeast strain that gives the complexity and slight sweetness you may expect from a Belgian style ale. The beer then reaches deeper providing a smack-down of American grown hops to turn the style on its head. It has a light caramel color, is strongly bitter with a fruity citrus aroma.

Draft at Standard Market, Westmont. $4 in a 10 oz Solemn Oath tulip. My first encounter with Brewery Vivant. Clear IPA style amber/orange color under a foamy head. Citrus and pine hops in the nose. I just assume that a Belgian ale has aromatic malts to it, but this seems more like the satandard English PA malt, crisp, yet sturdy enough to showcase a happy hop profile. Plenty malty as most IPAs go, and that makes a pleasant difference.

16 ounce can thanks to northernbrews! Thanks! I’ve really wanted to try this brewery., Pours a hazy orange-amber color. About 6 fingers of head atop 4 fingers of beer. Tan and frothy with good retention. Aroma of citrus, spicy and herbal hops, candi sugar, stone fruits, and an earthy note. The taste is herbal, leafy hops, citrus, candied citrus, stone fruits, pale malts, peppery and earthy notes. Medium bodied, low carbonation, smooth. Nice beer.

16 oz can. Pours amber with a white head. Light grassy, floral hop aroma. Flavor is similar, floral, grassy, hints of citrus hops. It’s an alright pale ale on its own, but I’m not sure where the "Belgian" is supposed to come in.

Sample at Kalamazoo Beer Exchange. Pours a clear amber-orange color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and yeast. Medium body with flavors of grapefruity hops, yeast and malt. The finish is mildly hoppy with a fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.

16 ounce can into tulip, no canning date. Pours crystal clear golden orange color with a nice 3 finger dense khaki head with incredible retention that reduces to a thick cap that lingers. Some decent lacing clings to the glass; with decent carbonation streaming up. Aromas of grapefruit, orange, caramel, pine, herbal, bread, and yeasty spices. Nice and well balanced aromas, but on the weak side. Taste of big grapefruit, caramel, pine, herbal, biscuit, orange, and yeast spices. Good amount of herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, bread, and yeast spices. Great balance of hop flavors, bitterness, and Belgian character; with a hop character being a little more pronounced. Medium carbonation and body; with a slightly creamy and very smooth mouthfeel. Drinks fairly easily at 6.5%; with only a slight alcohol warming after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian IPA. Has the Belgian character without going over the top; and still retaining good hop flavor. I really enjoyed this one.

Can. Pours a clear orange with a slight earthy amber hue and a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet citrus with a hint of grassy hops and just a bit of sweet grains. Flavor begins with sweet citrus and is backed by a lot of sweet grains with a bit of belgian yeast as well as grass.

Tap @ Brewery Vivant. Slightly hazy, orange appearance with an off white head. Moderately earthy, citrusy, slightly piney hoppy, dull malty aroma. Floral, somewhat citrusy, herbal hoppy, belgian yeasty flavor.
