Triomphe is made with a classic Belgian style yeast strain that gives the complexity and slight sweetness you may expect from a Belgian style ale. The beer then reaches deeper providing a smack-down of American grown hops to turn the style on its head. It has a light caramel color, is strongly bitter with a fruity citrus aroma.

Rich slightly hazy golden and copper coloured body with a nice fast-dying tan head, about 3 centimetres tall. Aroma of belgian yeast, spices, pungent malt, cleanser, pine, resin and a good dose of deep fruit. Meidum-bodied; Strong piney and resinous flavour with a large hop bitterness, some subdued belgian spiciness from the yeast and a good malt flavour that is on the edge of bitter. Aftertaste shows a well-rounded flavour of a lot of hops, some light malt and a good deal of the belgian yeast strain. Overall, a well-balanced beer that hits the right notes, but just not as good as others in this style, especially with the yeast chosen here - the hops are nice here, but simply not as complex as I would have preferred! I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$2,99 sampled at home in Washington after the Red Wings were eliminated from the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs earlier this weekend on 24-April-2016.

Canned 12/18/14, drunk 12/4/15.
Copper-golden body is clear, topped by a small white head with moderate to moderately low retention.
Metal, alcohol, sharp, perfumey esters and peppery phenols are what’s left a year later, now that the hops have faded.
Same in the mouth. Intensely sharp, alcoholic and heavily phenolic. Some sweetness, rather artificial, remains, with the same loose, artificial carbonation that all of their canned beers seem to have. A Belgian IPA should be pleasantly Belgian after the hops fade, with esters, phenols and malt character interestingly replacing the hops. Instead, a flabby texture, flaws and alcohol are what remains behind. Drainpour.

Can at Shoeless Joe's, 11/16/15. Clear golden-orange color with an off white head and drippy lacing. Citrus and citrus rind on the aroma and flavor. Has a yeasty spice component, as well as some grassy notes. Tastes balanced with the hops coming through more on the drier close. Feels medium bodied with a softer carbonation. Dryness feels more like that of a dry Saison than an IPA, but it definitely has that Belgian-style IPA feel overall. First thing I've tried from these guys, and this is a solid, but not amazing beer.

Can. Deep gold/amber body. Frothy white head, rapidly diminishing. Light aroma of spice and raw grain. Whisper of citrus and straw. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. I finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Either the Belgian yeast and American hops are clashing or the beer was slightly infected (likely), but there’s a vinegar aftertaste that is off-putting. Other than that, you’ll find clove and a light raw vegetable taste.

Can for IPA day: Poured a clear coppery orange with a creamy off white head. Aroma is hops and grass. Nice mix of hops, Belgian yeast, light soapy finish.

Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade.
This was poured into a tulip as I thought this was a Belgian IPA.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden bronzed amber color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. There wasn’t much lacing.
The smell had some tart to sour notes of grassy/lemon and moves towards some light Belgian spices.
The taste combines it all to fit a sour to bitter mouthiness to fulfill a light tart fruitiness all around.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed good for a Belgian IPA as there was a pretty decent harshness but not overbearing.
Overall, this was not a bad IPA or Belgian IPA, either way I could see myself having this again.

Purchased at Bottles & Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home after work, hopefully on one of the last sub-zero days of this winter. Appearance is a lightly cloudy amber gold with a moderate white head that lightly laces to the glass. Aroma of peppermint, light citrus and light tart and clove. Taste finishes with a nice dry bitterness, light tart, light piney hops, nicely done. There’s nothing outstanding about this brew, but it’s really good, solid, and exceptional. Probably the best \"session\" Belgo-IPA I’ve had yet.

16oz can. Slightly hazy orange-tan body. Big, foamy off-white head. Kind of has a flowery, sort of phenolic thing going on. Not really that impressive, sort of a let down, I expected more. The yeast is too aggressive, and it has herbal, spicy characteristics that seem out of place for the style, maybe right for a spicy US Saison.
