As one king falls, another takes his throne. The aromatic reign of Humulus Lupulus (hops) is supported in every sip by resounding and victorious malt flavors. Unlike the intense and aggressive monuments to the prior Rex, this veritable Hop King is upheld by a delightfully textured throne and serves as a beacon to those seeking a balance worthy of prolonged sessions.

For an East Coast IPA, one of the better ones I’ve tried. Still seems closer to an IPA, in body and hoppiness. Pale golden with medium frothy head. Very citrusy, grapefruit notes in aroma and taste.

Crisp, clear copper coloured body with a thick, four centimetre tall very soapy and foamy white head - fairly ugly, but the colour of the body is nice at least. Aroma of tons of soapy and fragrant perfumey hops with some light malt noticeable and a touch of cardboardie malt. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and perfume hops in the flavour with almost no malt at all to speak of. Aftertaste shows some hops with not much depth nor bitterness from alpha acids, but a very pale and non-existent malt makes this one-dimensional and bland. Overall, a pretty substandard beer, even for the style with no real flavours and only a nice aroma to get past everything. Not really worth trying this, there are much better Light IPAs out there that check this box. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from from Whole Foods in Washington (I Street, Foggy Bottom), DC on 16-October-2014 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 13-January-2015.

16oz pint at City Tap House in DC pours a clear dark orange with some frothy, white head. Nose is solid, dried lemon, some orange peel, mild soap, a little musty, some dried grasses, light malt. Flavor is crisp, lightly crackery, some very mild honey, lemon, a little unsweetened tea, orange, mild herbs, mild soap. Crisp finish. Very nice. Incredibly drinkable.

Draft at Snallygaster 2014. Poured a clear copper color with a small white head. Aroma was light grain notes, light malts, some mild hop. Flavor was very light, but quite refreshing. Easy to drink with a nice light hop character. Really liked this one.

Good hops with some Belgian like floral aromas here. Orange pour. Light sweet finish. Tap at Snallygaster.

Draft at the source. Hazy golden color, small white head. Aroma of pine and caramel. Taste is similar. Decent stuff.
