Pike Auld Acquaintance is a dark, toasty brown, high-gravity ale highlighted by aromatic notes of orange. Along with three different Yakima Valley hops, Curacao, sweet orange peel, coriander, cassia bark, and nutmeg, it drinks as a rich, gutsy, well-balanced and subtly spiced winter warmer.
Each year Pike Brewing Company honors one of our Auld Acquaintances with the label’s design. Rogue Ales’ Jack Joyce, the famed beer writer Michael Jackson, and Charlie Papazian have all adorned the label.

Deep orange. Spice and orange zest with some caramel. Fruity, lightly toasted, medium bitterness. Light citrus tang. Decent.

Draught at Collective on Tap, Woodinville, WA
Hazy dark amber color. Some caramel, very light biscuity malts, ordinary bitterness, tiny nuttiness in the final.
Not much effort, but at least it’s clean.

22oz bomber, this is the 3rd time I am buying this beer just to rate it. And you know I really want to rate it because its not a very positive review. Dark orange amber color. Head fades quickly. Aroma is sweet fruity and toasty. Nothing about that is fun or good. There are some poor spices, just a mix of bad stuff.

Bomber at Eugene’s - nose is heavy with ginger and orange peel - touches of coriander - taste is fairly heavy on the spiciness - medium sweet, moderate orange flavor, spicy notes of ginger - peppery spiciness, nutmeg - lingering strong spiciness and candied orange sweetness - interesting, but not all that great.

For some odd reason, I caved and took my mason jar to a local establishment called Percy’s. Since it was just a mason jar ’ s worth, honestly I wasn’t too worried since I was planning on having this in a whole session.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a nice hazy burnt brown to orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a good thirty seconds. No lacing was left.
The smell had a weird cooked wheat with a light sugary content to it. Light spice but not exactly comprehensible to what it exactly is.
The taste is sweet with a nice honey and caramel malt, it’s sticky sweet on the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a semi-sessionable quality about it but a certain smooth rolling honey sweet running across my tongue.
Overall, eh, not bad, interesting to say the least, pretty sure I’d seek out other winter warmers before this or have this again through another vessel.

Draft pour at Frankies. Pours a swirl of golden caramel colors with a spice forward, hoppy aroma. Sweet caramel flavor with a touch of hoppyness. Didn’t really pick up the holiday spices right away, but eventually they made a difference. Mild gingerbread finish. I liked this beer. Flavor was really nice, but not as full as I hoped. Could have been a little more bold. Good stuff. ReRate Month 2018! 22 oz bottle poured. I've had the bottle for a little while, and for some reason I'm just now getting to it. It actually tastes better to me this time around. Thick caramel pour, dark tan foam head. Flavorful constant, a little hoppier than I remember. Really like this brew.

Draft - Malts and a muddle of spices. Cloudy brown copper with a decent beige head. Caramel malts and cardamom with some clove. Malty and spicy, but nothing remarkable.

Unfiltered orange-tan. Nice head. Kinda odd buttery aroma. Drinkable, but faded, shows some age. Honey-orange aroma. Nice beer, Not even close to World Class, though presumably spoiled.

22oz bottle from Total Wine in Spokane
Appearance: Pours cloudy copper/amber with a same off-white head and spotty lacing
Aroma: Mild nutmeg, cinnamon and caramel
Taste: Caramel, spices and bitter citrus (orange)
OK, mild and thin. Not bad just nothing stands out.
