Bottle. Dark brown. Thin head. The aroma is lightly chocolatey, fudgey and maybe a little bit metallic. There’s a light tartness - is that supposed to be there? I had it on three different occasions and it was there every time. Some chocolatey notes, leading to a sweetish, yeasty and slightly figgy finish.

Dark brown pour with big tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, dark fruits, sugar and a hint of alcohol. Raisins and roasted malt flavors with some dark chocolate. A little chalky and ashy. Medium body with average carbonation.

Draft at CCB. Black, tan head. Delicate lacing. Aroma of burnt coffee grounds. Taste has milk chocolate anf vanilla. Decent.

Bottle thanks to bleeng at August tasting. Pours a dark ruby with a s creamy light tan head. The aroma is chocolate tobacco and raisin. Thin mouthfeel with a smokey flavor with clove and roast finish. A good American strong ale from Cigar City.

On tap at the Nook. Pours dark black with red notes. Very little head and no lacing. The aroma is toffee, licorice, smoke and tobacco, and oranges. The flavor is sweet and smoky up front, with a little sourness in the finish. The body is medium to heavy. The mouthfeel is a little astringent, flat and clean. Overall, this is a very interesting beer, but the flavors don’t work very well together.
