Bottle shared at the Big Friday Tasting, thanks again to LKS for showering us with yet more beer - not literally I hesitate to add, 03/01/14. Dark mahogony brown with a good sized light tan covering. Nose is light roasty notes, earthy, cocoa, toffee fudge, light spice. Taste comprises dark toffee fudge, cocoa, earthy, cake mix, dark fruit, candided sugars, dark malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, touch of booze in the finish. Ok drinkable affair but not too exciting and not enough depth for the ABV.

Mega Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Sri’s beau for this one. Opaque dark brown beer, big pale tan head. Palate is crisp. Caramel malt, light oxidised vibe. Light spice. Little dried fruits. Light dry finish. Was expecting more from this.

Bottle thanks to leighton at the super-massive-mega tasting. It pours near black with a thick beige head. The nose is rich roast, toast, vanilla, ash, earth and liquorice. The taste is rich roasted malt, coffee, earth, toast, aniseed, vanilla, marshmallow, Rock Road and cocoa with sweetish finish. Medium+ body and fine, prickly carbonation. Smooth, tasty and rather drinkable.

Medium sweet flavor with dried berries, cocoa, dry fruit, slight leather, cocoa. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Fair sweetness to finish, so,e cocoa, dried dark fruits. Good stuff. Pretty drinkable.

Bottle. Pours deep ruby ebony clear with a large fizzy tan head that dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, anise, and yes, clove. Flavor is the same, medium sweet and not a lot of bitterness, with some astringence. Medium body, annoyingly high carbonation detracts from the taste and mouthfeel. Pretty hot. Not really getting this one.

Bottle: Poured a murky toilet bowl brown with little to no head. Aroma was veggie and malt. Taste is malty, smoke, and cigarette ashes/butts. Pretty sure this was way past its prime.

12 oz. bottle in a trade with MikeLuke23. Thanks!! Tan head sticks to the side of the snifter, great retention. Dark brown / nearly black color. Cellar temperature gives me aromas of cherries, yeast and chocolate. The taste has a Belgian yeast flavor to go with the chocolate and roasted malts. Coffee notes with hints of licorice. Body is on the thin side. Texture is a light chalk or ash. Did they use a Belgian yeast with this brew? Because it reminds me of a Dubbel or stout. Overall the flavors are decent but what exactly is this trying to be? Not bad at all and the hidden ABV made this pretty easy to drink.
