A huge Imperial Stout based on our best seller. Thick, Black as Tar and Brewed with 6 different malts and Barley flakes and Magnum Hops. The rest is a secret.

Really smooth - doesn’t go down like an 11% at all. Nice full coffee flavor with a slightly sweet, subtly chocolate-y finish.

bottle - pours near black with a tan head. It has a dark roast malt and chocolate aroma. Roast malt and chocolate flavor... it’s got a full body though not as full as some in this style. Very good.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours black with a creamy tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a nice note of vanilla and marshmallow with sweet dark grains and a touch of roasted malts. Flavor is similar with marshmallow throughout, light vanilla and a backbone of dark grains and roasted malts.

on tap at the bocktown robinson, very nice place. dark brown but not black. sweet spicey aroma. more mild initially than I thot it would be. some coffee in the but mostly there is this spice thing happening. fairly flat. better than expecting, thot it would be an impy stout but it is much more behaved. some medicinal linger on the finish. not impressed yet I was not insulted. so, I guess its an ok beer.

Sample at the Big Tap In on 04/20/2013. Opaque brown-black pour with a medium khaki head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, malt and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, chocolate and mild hops. The finish is malty and sweet with a cocoa aftertaste. Above average overall.

Poured light black with very appealing lacing, minor head. Nose is charcoal and cocoa beans. much sweeter than expected. Some medicinal notes, cedar and sort of a chocolate milk finish. This is really drinkable.

Opaque black beer, pale tan head. Softish palate, crisp and minerally edge. Minerally dark malt, not heavy, roasty or bitter. Mild tangy fruits in the undertone - orange and darker fruits. Cocoa powder chocolate dominates before the minerally dry finish. Pretty light for it’s abv and with good flavour!

Tap at Alchemy. Opaque brown-black with a steady beige head. Surprisingly mellow for the ABV. Chocolate, coffee, cocoa. Has that Nestle Quik flavor thing going on, a touch of chalkiness. Really nice, think of it as an imperial chocolate stout.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a very fast-dying light brown head. Aroma of cherries, tons of chocolate (55% cacao), robust nuts and earth, vanilla, peat, soap and even a bit of soy sauce - crazy complex. Medium to Full-bodied; Nice malty flavour with some fresh fruits, a bit of raisins, a lot of lactic notes, some vanilla and and a bit of an oaky and whiskey flavour at the finish. Aftertaste is quite complex with a good pit fruit flavour, some chocolate, a lot of roasted malt and a good smoky and peat finish that shows well. Overall, not as full-bodied as most in the style, but showing good flavour complexity still, and definitely worth trying if you can find it. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 28-April-2011 for US$2.79 sampled at home in Washington on the evening the Tigers won the ALDS (in 5 games over Oakland) on 11-October-2012.
