Ale Aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels
I awake from a slumber that’s been anything but peaceful. I don’t take kindly to idling and I am anything but neutral. Life has nothing to do with killing time, and the knowledge that months have passed since the onset of my sequestering in this pitch-black oaken tomb (albeit a barrel flush with brilliant aromas of vanilla and char) does not sit well. But then comes a tingle followed by rejuvenating warmth, signs that something is different…something has changed…and for the better.
I feel stronger yet somehow more nimble and refined. I feel even more self-assured, and my vision for what is good and right, honest and true, is as laser-sharp as the brawny, bawdy, liquid Arrogance that shall further advance my battle against all things mediocre and geared toward the lowest common denominator. I have been born anew and, in the process, anointed with vibrant, inspiring, previously unexperienced character, all while maintaining everything I am and have always been—bold, bullish, unadulterated, and yes, Arrogant.
Are you Worthy of quaffing a beverage of this intensity, irreverence and quality craftsmanship? Not likely, but for those who “get it,” I know my time in this bourbon barrel has not been wasted. Cheers to you, enlightened imbiber. On second thought, cheers to me!

0.355 l bottle from '100 pív', bottled in July 2016. Clear, very dark ruby with a thin, frothy, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly resiny and a bit fruity aroma of caramel, bourbon, vanilla, some pine and a touch of red fruits. Quite sweet, malty, resiny and a bit fruity taste of caramel, pine, bourbon, vanilla and red fruits, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, quite resiny and a little woody finish. Almost full-bodied, creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really nice, more nuanced than the base beer but less hoppy due to its age as well, slow sipper.

Bevog Fest 17. Full-on bourbon vanilla, with some fruits and caramel. Warming, bitter finish with more Bourbon. Still not a fan.

On tap at Fakin Zagreb. Amber/brownish coloured, small beige head, bourbon barrel in the nose. Moderate to heavy malty, distinct bourbon barrel, touch of wood and alcohol with sweetish woody finish. Well balanced and pretty nice.

Tap at Fakin, Zagreb. Misty red body tinged with amber. Obvious, huge bourbon barrel aroma, dry and sweetish maltiness, quite nice. The taste, while initially not that great revealed itself fully when it got just slightly warmer. Full on soft perfumey blasts of bourbon and maltiness, ending dry and lovely, retaining a slight bitterness in the finish. I was impressed to say the least.

Vom Fass Stone Brewing Berlin 2016-09 getrunken.

A single 12 oz bottle I picked up on an out of town trip. Arrogant Bastard ale has been high on my favorites list so I’m pleased to try this. Using my ABGB tulip glass I make a pour. It delivers an attractive amber-brown body completed by a quickly departing light brown head. The scent is malt, toffee and an indication of a barrel being used in the process. A drink, oh my, a blend of the expected strong AB ale taste and a shot of bourbon to go with that beer. Powerful bitterness outlasts everything. This is really tasty, rather unique in my scope of things. 8.1% abv shown on the label, just to pass along.
