Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of hops, lemons, spices, fresh cut hay, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, straw, lemons, spices, pine needles, and alfa acids on a malty background, leading to a very bitter finish.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Skyview. Pours deep golden with a slight haze and a lacing off-white head. Lovely citrusy hop aroma. Medium body, sweet and fruity with a massive hop astringency, really a tastebud killer. Massive bitterness in the finish. 140212

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 11/22/11
Aroma: The nose starts off fairly subtle, but shows up with some warmth: pine, resin, and citrus fruits
Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy orange color, a thin sheet of white head, and mid-heavy lacing
Flavor: The flavor is more pronounced, a light-medium sweetness balanced by a mid-heavy bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a average carbonation, a slightly sticky texture, and a semi-dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid beer. It is on-style as an IPA. I thought that this one was both well-made and enjoyable. The nose comes out a little more as it warms, and that temperature is really where this beer is better enjoyed. I thought the flavor was pretty good, and it had a nice drink to it. Let it warm to close to room temperature, and enjoy.

12oz bottle. Slightly hazy orange-tan. Medium bodied. Slightly grainy, but with a solid enough hop bill to overcome. Soapy, orange, piny hops. Not really a great IPA, but a hell of an APA. Earthy, mild caramel tones. Somewhere between Unchained and regular Summit in terms or quality. Nice and sessionable, and a reasonable amount of grapefruit hop action. Toasty, clean golden malt. Solid beer.

Nice bronze color and a tall head, lacing the glass. Well carbonated. Flavor has dry malt and grassy, herbal hops. Flavor is bitter for sure, hops are up front and dry, with a light malt base lending a little sweetness. A good ipa.

Draft at Bavarian Lodge. Clear brassy color, stiff bubbly head with lots of lacing. Nice, big hops smell is mostly pine to me, then a little bit of citrus peel. Taste is very hoppy, but at first it’s not a pucker-burner. Still, this beer needs to be approached cautiously, and sipped, lest it somehow knock you over with its grandiosity. Hops do start to burn the back of the palate. This could very well have a Double IPA hop load after all, and no extra malt or alcohol for balance. It does need some extra malts to match up, and that’s it’s only drawback. One of the hoppier beers I’ve had from Summit. A slight tinge of salt at the very end.
