On tap at the brewery. Pours a deep charcoal color with a small white head. A nose of metal, coffee and light roast. The flavor is more metallic roast, dry coffee, berries, some ash. Good.

A clear dark brown stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, good chocolate malt with coffee grinds, a bit musty. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with coffee notes, herbal, raspy, quite nice. On tap at brewpub at Hawthorne, Oct. 7 2012.

Tap at Lucky Lab (Hawthorn) - 06/11/12. Light black with a thin tan head which soon clears to the edges and forma a pond. Nose is light roast malt, molasses and a hint of liqourice. Tastes of roast malt, chocolate, liqourice, touch of soy. Medium bodied with light spritzy carbonation leading to a roasty dryish finish.

Tap at Hawthorne location - black pour with a sticky tan lace - a very slight mouthfeel - medium body - I have never tasted so much diacetyl in a stout before - very buttery - this overcomes the more pleasant notes of bittersweet chocolate and roast - lightly bitter finish, with lingering butter - meh.

Cask @ Horse Brass Pub: Dark brown, near black, with a large, creamy brown head. Aroma is soft with roasted malt and light coffee. Flavor adds a bit of dark fruity and bittersweetness. Creamy texture and finished well.
